DESCRIPTION
  • A Crane Operator controls a crawler crane to lift, move, pound, and place objects in support of marine construction operations.
  • Operate a friction crane, such as a Manitowoc 4000W, 3950W, 3900W, to perform duty cycle dredging with clamshell bucket, pile driving, place concrete, place rip rap and armor stone, etc.
  • Perform daily inspections of rigging, barge, and associated equipment for wear, tear, abrasions, damage, cleanliness, and overall condition of the equipment.
  • Ensure load is within lifting capacity of the crane.
  • Maintain any required logs.
  • Outfit and maintain proper safety equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on the crane.
  • Assist construction crew out of the crane on an as-needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • NCCCO Crane Operator Certification - Lattice Boom Crawler Crane
  • Welding Certification is beneficial but not required.
  • Willingness to work up to 12-hour shifts, day or night, throughout the Great Lakes, with the majority of the time working within Lake Michigan and Lake Superior areas.
  • Must have basic knowledge of crane machinery in order to service the main engine and crane machinery which will include, but not limited to, changing oil filters, fueling, lubricate gears and bearings.
  • Ability to assist construction crew on an as-needed basis.
  • Commitment to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete a pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and background check.
  • Transportation to and from jobsite (valid driver’s license).
  • Comfortable working on and around water.
  • Team oriented with effective communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of general computer programs is preferred.

COMPENSATION
  • $65+ per hour during the construction season.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage offered through WPS and United Healthcare. A portion of health insurance premium is subsidized based on employee’s years of service at the Roen Salvage Company.
  • 12 days paid vacation and personal time off is offered after 1 year of full-time employment. Employees are then eligible to earn additional paid time off based on years of service at Roen Salvage Company.
  • Employees are eligible to participate in the Roen Salvage Company’s 401 (k) plan.
