Diversified Foods and Seasonings seeking Culinary Technician

The Culinary Technician is responsible for working directly with the Food Science and Culinary team members to facilitate the execution of projects and duties. This position will report to the Director of Culinary.

Responsibilities

– Support TCC (Technology & Culinary Center) as needed to prep bench samples: size and print Formulator recipes, check raw material availability at TCC, and accurately weigh and portion raw materials per recipe until use.

- Support the Product Developer, Commercialization Manager, and Food Science Project Manager for scale-up activities to include but not limited: Gold Standard sample analysis (TCC and DFS quality lab), set up sensory panels (prepare and number samples, create score cards per sensory test and product), compile sensory attributes and photography for Product Attribute Sheet(s), compile production run analytics and batch records for post-production reporting.

– Support Product Developers by assisting with internal product cuttings for acceptance to ship to customers: prepare and number samples, and create scorecards per selected sensory test and product type.

– Assist with frying and baking projects: procure raw ingredients, prepare batters, and marinade proteins as needed per recipe, set up batter and breader stations, readying fryer.

- Manage interdepartmental transfers of finished products and raw materials between plants and TCC: IDT documentation, arrange receipt to/from TCC, check-in, and storage at TCC.

– Manage incoming finished product and raw material samples from 3rd parties: log, label, collect ship labels for Logistics manager, store

- Organize and maintain the TCC storage areas: dry storage, coolers, and freezers. Periodically review and assess aged items in storage items with R&D staff for disposition.

- As needed, help maintain the cleanliness of the test kitchen: wash dirty dishes, utensils, and small-wares, benchtop kettles, fryers, stove tops, ovens, grills, tumblers, blenders, immersion blenders.

– Assist Culinary and Food Science departments with customer presentations off-site and at TCC as well as other DFS special events as needed.

- Carry out other duties as needed and assigned by your immediate supervisor.

Experience:

  • food manufacturing: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Kitchen management: 2 years (Preferred)
