CUSTOIDAL/MAINTENANCE WORKER
Position is responsible for custodial and maintenance functions. Daily review of work assignment book for jobs needed to be done. Checks and replaces cleaning, personal hygiene and laundry supplies. Prepares bulk orders and inventories of supplies. Gathers and disposes of trash. Assists with kitchen cleaning. Monitors lights and light fixtures, doors and locks in all rooms. Performs various landscaping functions including grass mowing and snow removal. Performs minor repairs to furniture, equipment, tools and appliances. Sanitation; ensures that the facility is clean and ready for inspection at all times.
Requires knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of hand, power tools, mowers and weed eaters. Some knowledge of landscaping, painting, carpentry and plumbing. Knowledge of institutional security methods are a plus.
Work hours are Monday – Friday, 7 am – 3:30pm and subject to change as occasionally required. Occasional weekend and overtime hours in urgent situations.
Good oral/written communication. Must pass CPR/First-aid training, physical examination, tuberculin test and an extensive background investigation to include Criminal and Virginia Central Registry checks. DMV driving record and license required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, training and experience that provides knowledge of basic or commonly used procedures, operations and general education achieved from a high school education.
