JOB TITLE : Custodian

SUPERVISOR : Maintenance Director

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Director, the Custodian is responsible for the maintenance, and aesthetics of the facility, equipment and grounds. The Custodian will provide service as required to keep the facilities, equipment, and grounds safe and clean for members, residence and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Works as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Completes work and projects in a timely manner.
• Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Works with other departments and outside agencies as required.
• Performs grounds keeping to keep the facility well maintained and safe.
• Ensures that assigned equipment is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
• Adheres to all safety and risk management procedures.
• Maintain maintenance/custodial areas in a clean, neat, organized, and orderly fashion.
• Provide feedback to Maintenance Director on projects to support the Department’s mission.
• Provides assistance with set-up/tear-down of special events, programs, classes, etc.
• Attends meetings and related trainings as required.
• Maintain a neat and clean appearance.
• Required to respond to maintenance/custodial emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of experience in custodial services preferred.
• Working knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Working knowledge of grounds keeping equipment and technics.
• Familiarity with personal computers and basic programs.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations in a timely, efficient and calm manner'
