Position Announcement

The UCCU Center at Utah Valley University is looking for part time staff in the Custodial Department. We are hiring for all shifts including morning, day, and night. We will provide on the job training. Come work in a fast pace exciting environment that includes working concerts, trade shows, Athletics events and tournaments.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Event cleaning before, during, and after all UCCU Center events. Including bleachers, locker rooms, suites, and hallways.
  • Cleans and maintains all UCCU Center and Athletic facility restrooms, offices, conference rooms, meeting area and event spaces. Including dusting, mopping, wiping walls, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and restocking etc.
  • Maintains halls, stairs, elevators, entry ways and lobbies. Including dusting, mopping, wiping walls, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and restocking etc.
  • Maintains inventory and cleans custodial closets and storage areas. Implements the safe use of hazardous chemical products and their disposal.
  • Responsible for securing doors and windows of all areas and all buildings. Assists in emergency procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma from a standard high school or the equivalent and any combination of post high school education and/or directly related full-time experience to the Summary of Duties totaling six months is required.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and standards. Knowledge in proper use of hazardous chemicals and products. Knowledge of cleanup and proper protection from body fluids including Blood.- Good interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. Strong cooperative skills: Works well in a team-based environment. Demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.- Ability to learn and care for an assigned area(s) and equipment. Ability to operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishers, etc. Ability to understand chemical cleaning application and methods. Ability to work in and around large crowds of people. Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary for events. Acts professionally when encountering customers who at times may be frustrated or threatening.
