Position Summary:

The experienced and mature person hired in the position will be responsible for greeting customers and processing customers' purchases accurately and efficiently at the point of sale. Maintains a neat, clean and organized register area.

Primary Responsibility:

Customer Service:

  • Greets all customers encountered. Assists customers in a friendly courteous manner. effectively responds to questions and requests from customers.
  • Processes customers ' transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Bags customers' purchases carefully and thanks customers for shopping at Arroyo Grande Home & Garden
  • Resolves customers problems regarding purchase transactions.
  • Passionately encourages every customer to become a rewards member by explaining all the great benefits.
  • Protect customer information per company policy and State law
  • Maintain confidentiality

Operations and Replenishment:

  • Maintains proper funds in register and completes drops as needed, Follows company policy and procedures handling void transactions, even exchanges, over and short situations, etc. Opens and closes the register and counts out register drawers. Records appropriate information on the balance sheet to prevent cash loses. Follow policy on checking large bills for counterfeit avoidance.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and organized register area. Calls for and assists with carry outs, trash pick up, and any other assistance as needed. Fill supplies as needed. Utilize supplies in a cost effective manner.
  • Assists in departments recovery, housekeeping duties, preparation and taking of inventory and stock room organization.
  • Recovers and replenishes POS impulse items and endcaps in accordance with merchandising and directives.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work various shifts as required including weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Continuous training and development on products and services, through hands on and online trainings.
Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of his/her working time standing or moving about register areas and around the store. Physicalactivities include holding a scanning gun, keying and processing register transactions, lifting and bagging merchandise, bending, stooping, and reaching on a frequent basis.
  • Adhering to Company policy and procedures is required.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and attention to detail.
