Description:
Spatial Front provides IT solutions to federal, state, and local governments, and the private sector. We are looking for a Database Developer to join our team on a long-term contract for USDA FAS. This is a remote full-time position.
This project includes IT application maintenance, enhancement, and modernization efforts whereby you’ll be responsible to support the maintenance and enhancements of the data tier of numerous software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop complex database structures and features according to organizational needs
- Create T-SQL scripts, views, stored procedures, functions, or other technical solutions based on business need
- Proficient writing advanced T-SQL queries including the use of temp tables, CTE, merges, pivots, grouping, etc
- Communicate with project managers, clients, and other developers to design cohesive project strategies and ensure effective collaboration throughout all phases of development, testing and deployment
- Maintain a flexible and proactive work environment to facilitate a quick response to changing project requirements and customer objectives and innovate ways to meet mission goals successfully
- Work through early stages of the software lifecycle to profile data and to create conceptual, logical & physical data model designs with appropriate structure and relationships for optimal performance
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 6 to 8 years as a T-SQL developer for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or higher
- SQL Server Management Studio experience
- In-depth understanding of data management (security, performance, etc.)
- Understand and use normalization methods and design methodologies
- Experience designing stable, reliable, and scalable new SQL Server databases as well as modifying existing databases
- Demonstrated success in working independently and in team collaboration
- Proactive, self-motivated, able to recognize issues and resolve or escalate appropriately
- Excellent analytical, documentation, organization, and communication skills
- Liaise with all developers to improve applications and establish best practices
Nice to Have:
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining metadata models and complex ETL packages
- Experience with .NET Entity Framework
- Experience using Azure DevOps
- Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation
- Experiencing working in a SCRUM or Agile environment

- In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
- Ability to pass a US Public Trust background investigation for access to the client site and computing systems. You must have lived in the US for the past three (3) years.
