A site-based service provided in order to facilitate contact between children in out of home care and their biological parents, relatives or significant others, to monitor this contact and to report on the contact to DCF social workers. All sites must be approved by the local DCF Area Office. Supervised visitation can also be provided in alternative, more normalized community settings as part of a reunification plan and as approved by the DCF Area Office.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The development and communication of clear guidelines for supervised visits, including expectations for attendance, behavior, language, allowable participants and other factors that will support a successful visitation outcome.
The guidelines will be provided to biological and foster families, children and youth
Transportation to supervised visitation for children and youth in foster care
Interactional feedback to biological parents or other significant participants following each visitation session identifying strengths and recommendations for Improvement
The coordination, on a monthly basis, of case review meetings between the Provider and DCF staff on all cases receiving services
The completion of a written summary following each visit including observation of the parent-child interaction and safety considerations as well as a summation of the feedback provided to the parent

Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) will review the applicant’s experience, education and training, other qualifications and the current resume and Statement of Experience form
Special Requirement: A valid Connecticut motor vehicle license, valid American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certificates

The employee must present a current valid driver’s license and have available and use of a safe and roadworthy vehicle. Annually, the employee shall provide the Agency with proof of suitable automobile insurance. The following background checks must be successfully completed before a position is filled: Department of Motor Vehicle, Department of Public Safety, and a Department of Children and Families background check. Upon hire or shortly thereafter, the employee must acquire and present the following: a) A currently valid certification in CPR; b) A certificate of successful completion of a First Aid course.
