Herzog Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Delivery Driver/Warehouse Assistant in Vero Beach, Florida to join our team. The Delivery Driver/Warehouse Assistant will operate a truck that transports cargo to and from specified destinations. The Delivery Driver/Warehouse Assistant will prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service as well as loads, secures, verifies, and unloads cargo.

Under general supervision this position operates a Company truck or automobile over an established route(s) to deliver products and/or picks up returned merchandise. Additionally, this position fulfills all shipping and receiving functions within the warehouse.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow Company Safety Policy and including both CDL and company drug and alcohol testing
  • Participate in daily company Safety Meetings
  • Wear appropriate PPE as required
  • Maintain Company vehicle logs
  • Work under the direction of the Warehouse manager
  • Keeps vehicle fueled in accordance to management instructions and business needs and notifies management of needed repairs.
  • Follow all vehicle operational laws.
  • Responsible for maintaining and storing equipment (i.e. phone, keys, fuel card) in accordance to warehouse guidelines.
  • Accurately interprets various warehouse documents to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed.
  • Opens bales, crates and other containers. Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Sorts, organizes and prepares merchandise from receiving or the production areas to storage or to other designated areas, by part and quantity.
  • Verifies documentation and records incoming merchandise by part and quantity.
  • May use computer to enter, maintain, locate and create records. Uses computer to dispatch, confirm customer or stock orders and to generate delivery manifests and receiving documents.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write clear and grammatical reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
  • Current Class A CDL driver’s license with clear record.
  • Possess forklift certification or be able to quickly obtain certification.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position
  • This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Regularly lift weight up to 50 pounds to waist height.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds to waist height and carry for a distance up to 10 feet.
  • Work in a confined access/space environment with a width of 24 inches.
  • Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
  • Able to tolerate repetitive movements: bending and overhead reaching.
  • Regularly ascend/descend a platform with a height of up to 12 inches from the floor.
  • Regularly ascend/descend a ladder while carrying 35 pounds of equipment.
  • Regularly climb stairs while carrying 50 pounds of equipment.
  • Frequently bend, crouch, stand and sit for extended time.
  • Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
