The Deputy Director for the department of Human Services is responsible for the overall supervision and management of the department's programmatic service areas. The service areas include the Family Services Bureau, Benefit Programs Bureau, Prevention and Self-Sufficiency Bureau, Children Services Act, and the Four Oaks Day Services Center.

In this position, you will be required to execute the department's strategic plan to ensure local, state, and federal compliance. As Deputy Director, you are expected to provide guidance to reporting managers with respect to evaluating, counseling, motivating, and disciplining employees.

In addition, serving in this capacity you will have oversight responsibilities for various programs, initiatives and services that contribute to the overall success of the City. You will be required to collaborate with various internal and external partners. Therefore, strong communication skills are a required attribute. The salary range for this position is $76k-$131k, and is competitive based on education, qualifications and work experience. In addition to salary, the City offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to meet all of our employee’s needs!

This position, requires a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Human Services, Social Work or a related field and 5-7 years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in human services or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s Degree is preferred, but not required.

This position will also require a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check.

This position is deemed as Essential Personnel and will be asked to work during emergencies. An individual in this position cannot be listed as having a founded child abuse or neglect complaint.
