Within the daily responsibilities and tasks that our team takes on, painting an articulate message through clear imagery and layout is at the core. The term that people “first eat with their eyes” is a phrase commonly used in restaurants, but also reigns true in the world of business and especially in our world of business development. The ideal design assistant designs content that goes beyond aesthetic considerations and beyond words and text within the copy. By effectively designing content, we are able to rethink content itself, as well as the needs of the audience and design a complete experience that people understand easily and clearly and also enjoy engaging with and or create a level of security with our authority as The Nascent Group in a myriad of industries including, but not limited to hotel design, restaurant design, retail design, placemaking, travel and leisure, mixed use development and urban planning.

The Nascent Group Design Assistant will work closely with our team to create and organize content that effectively communicates a specific message to a specific audience. This position acts as a collaborator with our team and our clients bringing their ideas into fruition and requires exceptional teamwork. Working in the content production circle also means adhering to a publishing schedule. This is more of an ongoing process with noteworthy milestones. Presentations and output will be heavily focused on organizing content and creating a visual strategy through the presentation with a clear objective and call to action by the close of the document creating a user experience that's intuitive, efficient, and satisfying for our clients to use. This position will work closely with the founder and project manager taking notes, direction and ideas and articulating them visually into provided template samples. Ideas and examples from outside sources are always welcomed and bring ideas to the team to elevate presentations both creatively and professionally so that The Nascent Group is consistently excelling and improving in effectiveness and design.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE DESIGN ASSISTANT

  • User research: Researching the needs and goals of the target audience to facilitate the production of content that solves users' problems and provides value
  • Brand messaging: Making sure content adheres to appropriate language and tone based on user research and brand voice.
  • Information architecture & hierarchy: Organizing content logically and intuitively, using headings, subheadings, and other formatting techniques to help guide the reader
  • Graphic design: Using visual elements, such as photographs, illustrations, and infographics, to help convey information, provide guidance, and make the content more engaging while adhering to the brand style guide.
  • Clarity: Ensuring the content is clear, both in terms of writing quality and in the design and flow of the writing's presentation
  • Produce well-researched content for client projects as needed
  • Organize writing schedules to complete drafts of content or finished projects within deadlines
  • Utilize industry best practices and familiarity with the organization's mission to inspire ideas and content
  • Communicate and cooperate with the team to deliver tasks efficiently
  • Develop related content for multiple platforms, such as websites, social media, email marketing, product descriptions, grant, press releases, business plans, etc.
  • Monitor and analyze comp sets to offer suggestions for improvement to the company and clients
  • Use search engine optimization (SEO) strategies in writing to maximize the online visibility in search results for the company or clients.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE DESIGN ASSISTANT

  • General understanding of organizing content including, but not limited to wireframing, prototyping, and understanding user needs through research and user journey mapping.
  • Strong writing skills, a good understanding of the writing, editing, and publication process.
  • Excel in topic ideation, research, and content strategy.
  • Familiar with content strategy and creation enough to produce content once given prompt.
  • Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio
  • Impeccable grasp of the English language, including idioms and current trends in slang and expressions
  • Ability to work independently with little or no daily supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to communicate with clients, colleagues, and management
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with different objectives simultaneously
  • Strict adherence to the style guides of each company and their policies for publication
  • Good time management skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary
  • Proficiency with computers, especially writing programs, such as Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Canva
  • Familiarity with each client's requirements and the company's brand image, products, and services
