ISG is hiring a Drafter/Designer to join our growing Water/Wastewater team in our Storm Lake, IA location. As a Process Piping Designer, you will be an ISG Employee Owner working collaboratively with your fellow employee owners. This role provides immense opportunities to learn and strengthen skills while working with others on the development of projects.

About the Job: Our Water/Wastewater team serves the essential Municipal and Industrial clients throughout the entire US and are comprised of employee owners in Sioux Falls, Storm Lake, Des Moines, and Minneapolis offices. We are a full-service, multi-disciplinary team, who perform award winning work in planning, design, survey, and construction.

Rachel Kloos in Sioux Falls, Tom Grafft in Storm Lake, and Lenny Larson in Des Moines collectively lead ISG’s Water/Wastewater team. In the Des Moines office, you would work alongside Lenny Larson and Becky French, who brings over 15 years of experience in piping design, PID’s, and Layouts.

Here are some projects we’ve worked on recently that might give you a better sense of what you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Clarion Water Distribution System – ISG provided a comprehensive WaterCAD Distribution System Modeling and Preliminary Engineering Report identifying critical improvements needed to the City of Clarion’s water distribution system and assisted with securing funding resources to realize three significant infrastructure projects.
  • Sanitary Sewer and Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements – ISG developed cost – savings solutions to lower the chloride and e. coli effluent levels to meet State standards for the City of Pocahontas’s wastewater treatment plant and recommended efficiency improvements to its aging sanitary sewer system.
  • Kingsley Wastewater Treatment Plant – ISG designed the retrofit of existing wastewater treatment lagoons for the City of Kingsley, enabling more compliant and higher capacity wastewater treatment processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Drafting and Design preferred. Equivalent recent work experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
  • Knowledgeable in Autodesk AutoCAD Plant3D software. Experience in other Autodesk products is acceptable.
  • Experience with creating, reading, and understanding P&IDs is preferred.
  • Design principles and best practices for water/wastewater treatment systems.
  • Understanding of the following systems: chemical storage and feed systems, solids handling, blowers, pumps, and water treatment equipment.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team to meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • The above qualifications above are desirable; however we are willing to train the right person.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Utilize AutoCAD Plant3D to create detailed project documentation – piping & equipment layouts, process flow diagrams (PFD’s), P&IDs, review vendor drawings/cut sheets.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Plant3D to model piping, valves, and equipment for 3D designs.
  • Build and populate reports from P&IDs & 3D models using AutoCAD Plant 3D Report Creator.
  • Utilize Autodesk Navisworks Manage to review 3D models.
  • Conducting field observation and inspection during/after construction phases.
  • Coordinate with engineers/designers on the production of project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with other ISG disciplines to create functional, detailed, and sustainable designs.
  • The above essential duties are skills that a candidate will learn and develop in this position.
