The Desktop Engineer has the responsibility for supporting the engineering associated with the planning, building, configuration, deployment, and run & maintain support of end user compute devices. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable automation and ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures meet organizational goals
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Responsible for the engineering and support of end user compute devices. Identify trends, perform root cause analysis, automate processes, and develop solutions to prevent recurring issues
  • Serve as the escalation and point of contact for VIP level personnel
  • Providing support to site and remote personnel with company computer systems, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, Mobile and RF devices with a focus on improving user experience and stability
  • Imaging, deployment and inventory of computers and software using identified software
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting IT infrastructure hardware and software onsite or via remote including but not limited to PC’s, laptops, servers, printers, faxes, phones, switches, mobile devices, Wi-Fi, while utilizing Service Management software and working with Managed Services to resolve IT issues
  • Participate in global IT project work including design, planning, coordinating, and implementation
  • Consults with vendors, users, and local management to determine software, hardware, and system services functional specifications and making recommendations
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related desktop engineering and/or desktop support experience.
  • IT certifications and expertise in cloud preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft, iOS, and Linux based Operating Systems.
  • Proficiency in Cloud Technologies such as AWS and Azure is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience and comfortable working with VIP personnel.
  • Comfortable working in a large centrally managed environment.
  • Experienced working with Configuration Management platforms such as SCCM and Intune.
  • Results oriented, self-motivated, with effective oral/written communication skills.
MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISION:
  • This position has no direct reports.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
