SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Desktop Support Technician will work with the IT Manager to deploy new workstations, provide on-site support for clients, troubleshoot and resolve initial issues, and deliver top-quality service to end-users. Support includes installation and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Troubleshoot network connectivity and wireless access for local and remote computers or devices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals.
  • Solve a broad range of day-to-day onsite technical issues on network infrastructure and internal desktop systems.
  • Provide telephone, in-person, and remote support to end-users, assisting them with their technology.
  • Respond to user issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assist with new PC setups and deployment to users.
  • Install, configure and maintain computer hardware and peripheral components such as printers, scanners, phones, and disk drives.
  • Assist in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users' requirements.
  • Furnish computer/network rights to folders and programs.
  • Provide support for connectivity to the network(s).
  • Document, maintain, upgrade or replace hardware and software systems.
  • Determine the most cost-effective repair to minimize customer downtime.
  • Perform asset inventory activities as needed.
  • Establish regular in-person and email communications with IT Manager regarding updates and pertinent IT activities.
  • Ensure compliance with established County security policies.
  • Must be able to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position; requires ability to stay past normal shift time to provide coverage during emergency situations or as the need demands.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma and Advanced Technical Education is required; Associates Degree is preferred, and
  • 3-5 years IT experience, providing technical support and advice to system users, or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, MS Windows desktop and O365 operating systems, MS office products, PC hardware technologies, TCP/IP, internet connectivity, programming and database languages, and network architecture.
  • Strong customer-focused support skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal relations with proven communication skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
  • Ability to lift/move computer equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
