Direct Care Worker will:

• Provide primary supervision and support of residential clients. Look after the cleanliness and health of the clients and their environment in the best possible manner.
• Assist individuals/consumers with basic tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming and eating.
• Help with home management tasks such as preparing meals, grocery shopping, and cleaning.
• Set and contribute to a safe, dignified, orderly atmosphere by enforcing program rules, policies, and procedures.
• Help plan activities for residents. Define strategies and goals as outlined in their plan by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).
• Guiding clients and facilitating appropriate behavior about daily living skills, self-care, personal interaction, social relationship.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations by contacting appropriate staff and supervisors, interacting with police, fire, and medical personnel as needed.
• Maintain complete records and ensure effective communication of priority information to all necessary staff and shifts.

Job Description for Direct Care Worker / Direct Support Professional:

• The ideal candidate for Direct Care Workers will be someone with a background in working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities and/or mental health individuals, who have done Direct Care Work for at least 1 year.
• The Direct Care Workers must have excellent boundary setting, good interpersonal communication skills, and be able to follow and implement support plans.
• Direct Care Workers must be comfortable to work as management or working as a team to help create a supportive nurturing model for growth.

Requirements of Direct Care Workers:

• CPR/First Aid training through American Red Cross
• 2 professional references
• CDS Trainings (Medication, Maltreatment, Stephen Komninos Law, Shifting Expectations & Danielle's Law)
• Current/recent physical results
• Current/recent PPD/TB test results
• COVID-19 Vaccination Record
• Valid driver’s license and criminal clearance
