Actively support and further the mission of The Arc of the Quad Cities Area: To live and work in partnership with the community to support individuals with developmental and other disabilities, through a variety of support services.

DUTIES

DIRECT CARE

• Provide supervision, personal care training, and active treatment as outlined in Individual's Habilitation Plan (IHP); ensure safety and well-being of designated individuals at all times
• Communicate effectively with individuals we serve, their guardians, the community, family members, staff, and others
• Assist with all aspects of meal provision including following a menu, meal preparation, and clean up
• Perform health care-related duties, monitor individual health care status, and administer medication
• Participate in home and community recreation with individuals
• Assist with making home or individual purchases, obtaining receipts at all times

TRANSPORTATION

• Drive agency and/or personal vehicle for outings, errands, grocery shopping, individual medical appointments, and as otherwise required per agency policy and procedure

QUALIFICATIONS

DIRECT CARE

• Ability to lift minimum of 50 lbs; ability to assist in lifting and transferring of individuals weighing more than 100 lbs
• Ability to kneel on the floor and bend at the waist and knees; ability to assist an individual who may be falling; ability to conform to any position required to provide individual-related care
• Ability to stand and work on feet for 90% or more of scheduled shift

MAINTENANCE/COMPLIANCE

• Ability to communicate verbally and to interact professionally
• Ability to perform written documentation clearly, accurately, and completely
• Experience in human service field preferred

TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Ability to read at an 8th grade level (must pass TABE test)
• Must acquire and maintain medication administration authorization
• Direct Service Provider certification preferred or ability to obtain within 120 days of employment
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications preferred; ability and willingness to learn computer applications as required for documentation

TRANSPORTATION

• Valid driver's license in good standing; vehicle with appropriate auto insurance; approved by agency's auto insurance carrier for driving agency vehicles
