The perfect candidate for this position is someone who is patient, a self-starter, and enjoys going on community outings with our clients. We are interested in people who are inspired and passionate to help others in need. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Home of Guiding Hands, you are a part of the improvements, changes, and accomplishments our clients achieve every day. Direct Support Professionals assist clients with:

• Community Outings and Therapies
• Exercise and Health
• Cooking and Household duties
• Hygiene Tasks
• Building Relationships

The Residential program is our largest and longest running program. There are 30 residential locations we assist and care for, and each home can care for up to 6 people. We have positively impacted thousands of people with special needs and their families within the community.

• We are looking for experienced individuals with a minimum of 12 months experience working with people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities. It is very helpful if you have some experience working with behaviors.
• We cover the costs for fingerprinting, CPR training, TB test, etc..

Our Location
Our residential locations are spread out within East County San Diego. It is an estimate of no more than 20 miles from our main office in El Cajon. Location assignments are discussed within the interview process.
Schedules Available - Full-time and On-Call positions

• Variable shifts: Example #1: Sunday 10A-6P, Monday, 1P-9P, Tues/Wed off, Thursday, 2P-10P, Friday 1P-9P, Saturday, 10A-6P pm
• Variable shifts: Example #2: Sunday 7A-3P, Monday 6A-9A/3P-8P, Tuesday 1P-9P, Wed/Thurs. off, Fri., 2P-10P, Saturday 1P-9P
• PM shifts: 2P-10P
• NOC shift: 10P- 6A

Requirements

• 12 months of previous experience working with individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities, working with behaviors a plus!
• High school diploma or GED equivalency
• 18 years or older
• Valid Driver's License with 24 months of driving experience (preferred)

• As an agency we fall under the California mandate and Public Heath Order and have a mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination policy which requires all of our employees to be fully vaccinated, including boosters. Applicants and employees may request an exemption from this requirement for medical or religious reasons. Such exemptions are not guaranteed and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
