Position Overview

Inspired Options Inc. is seeking a caring, reliable and devoted direct support professional to assist the people we support in our Community Development Services program.

Community Development Services (CDS) is a DDA service model that is geared towards supporting the participant’s growth and development of skills and social supports necessary to gain, retain or advance competitive integrated employment opportunities.

Community-based activities offered through CDS may include, but are not limited to the participant’s participation and engagement in:

• Opportunities to learn socially acceptable behavior and self-advocacy skills.

• 
  Activities which facilitate and promote integration and inclusion in the participant’s chosen community, including identifying a path to employment for a working age participant.

• 
  Travel training.

• 
  Self-advocacy classes and activities.

• 
  Local community events.

• 
  Volunteering within a non-profit organization whose mission the participant’s supports and/or

• Performing a paid or unpaid internship.

Essential Functions

• Support individuals participate and engage in activities in the community
• Work directly with 1 – 4 adults in the community, supporting and assisting them with various activities geared toward realizing the goals of the CDS program.

Required Education/Certifications/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

CPR/First Aid, and required DDA trainings

Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position.

Must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver's license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver's ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.

Ability to drive multiple Agency vehicles following traffic rules and safety precautions. This includes, but is not limited to, safe driving, and the ability to secure people who use wheelchairs

Additional Required Skills

Microsoft Excel and Word skills, excellent communication skills, organizational skills and ability to multi-task necessary. Must be a self-starter.

****This position requires applicant to complete a background check and drug screen (arranged and paid for by Inspired Options, Inc.) prior to hire. DDA mandated trainings and required certifications provided once hired.
