Overview:
Atlantic Health System is seeking a Director, Accounting, Reprting and Reimbursement at our corpoarte office located in Morristown, NJ. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance. The Director of Accounting, Reporting and Reimbursement will provide leadership and coordination of Atlantic Health System’s internal and external financial reporting, including System and all subsidiaries, pension, cost reports and debt financing functions. The role will have significant direct oversight of Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Foundations, Reimbursement and Grants and Clinical Trials of Finance to ensure collaboration across the System in support of advancing the Trusted Network of Caring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for improving processes, controls and quality over monthly AHS Hospital Corp. financial results through direct oversight of the hospital controller and managers over the functions noted above. The results of which are reported to key management, the Finance & Investment Committee and the Board of Trustees.
  • Collaborate with other key departments during the close to ensure proper recording of transactions such as site finance and operations managers/directors, reimbursement, budget, strategic sourcing, payroll, tax and patient financial services.
  • Responsible for developing and directing accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, regulatory and legal requirements while leveraging an in-depth understanding of best practices within the industry to enhance Atlantic’s competitive position.
  • Responsible for keeping current with generally accepted accounting principles and industry regulations to properly implement required operational and reporting requirements.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality, to include hiring, training and retaining competent accounting and finance staff in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining the General Ledger, CoA and reporting under the new Oracle system. Collaborate with ISS on technology decisions. Participation on revenue cycle and ancillary support decisions.
  • Oversight of the quarterly and annual reporting for AHS Hospital Corp. under the obligated group issued debt to the Electronic Municipal Market Access Database (EMMA is the not-for-profit healthcare entities equivalent of SEC reporting), the New Jersey Health Care Facilities Financing Authority, Bond Trustees, Goldman Sachs and various other lending institutions for which we hold direct placement LOC’s, loans and taxable debt. Assist the VP of Finance with the preparation of presentations to Rating Agencies (Moody’s, S&P and AM Best) and various other external third parties.
  • Responsible for other external reporting such as NJHA, Apollo, AHA, Modern Healthcare and U.S. Census annual surveys as well as postings to website of financial information as required under the Cares Act and FEMA.
  • Responsible for managing the relationship with external auditors and the coordination and oversight of the annual external audits for all System entities to include the preparation of the Atlantic Health System, Inc. audit and the audits under the Uniform Guidance requirements for federal and State awards. In addition, provide oversight for the audits of AHS Hospital Corp., AHS Insurance Company, Inc., The Foundation for Morristown Medical Center, Newton Medical Center Foundation, Chilton Medical Center Foundation, and Hackettstown Medical Center Foundation performed by PwC, and review and assistance of the CentraState HealthCare System audit performed by E&Y, and all other subsidiaries performed by Withum Smith and Brown.
  • Responsible for the direct oversight of the accounting and reporting of federal and State grant awards as well as clinical trials. Ensuring compliance with various granting agency regulations as well as reporting.
  • Responsible for direct oversight of the Accounts Payable Department manager and functions within.
  • Significant collaboration with Strategic Sourcing to improve workflow and financial benchmarking of pharmacy and supply expense/spend.
  • Responsible for the fixed asset / construction reporting function to assist the VP of Finance in analysis and monitoring of project status in conjunction with the Director of Facilities and Finance & Investment Committee presentation of capital spend.
  • Responsible for the Hospital’s filing of CMS and Medicaid cost reports, working with external consultants on the optimization of cost reports.
  • Stay abreast of current reimbursement regulations proving updates to the VP of Finance and CFO as new regulations are proposed and finalized, summarizing the impact to the System.
  • Responsible for assisting the VP in meeting financial objectives including funding decisions of debt and pension, optimizing investments of financial capital, managing investor and institutional relationships for the treasury function, and participation in growth strategy analysis including joint ventures and mergers/acquisitions.
  • Participate on key committees such as FIC, foundation audit/finance committees, and any other requested ad hoc committee requiring a finance presence.

  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills with a track record of fostering transparent, postive relationships across the organization
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud Software, Advanced Excel
Minimum Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance required
License/Certifications:
  • PA required
Relevant Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership with demonstrated accomplishments
