Responsibilities:
We have an exciting opening in the newly formed Corporate Strategy team where you will have the rare opportunity to be part of the leadership team that defines the vision and builds out this critical function for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The other primary functions of the Director, Corporate Strategy are to:
- Oversee and execute strategic initiatives that cut across the enterprise for the CEO and the Senior Leadership team
- Identify future growth opportunities for the organization, with particular attention to the capabilities needed to operationalize and capture value from these areas
- Propose and solve high-impact problems and develop actionable solutions for the most challenging issues and opportunities facing the company
The responsibilities of Director, Corporate Strategy will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Provide thought leadership to business partners, including the Senior Leadership team, and other operating leaders on a broad range of business-critical topics
- Identify and deconstruct business issues and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses
- Demonstrate strong leadership and significant influence management skills with the ability to gain credibility with Sr Leadership while challenging the status quo
- Assist in the execution of the Global Strategic Planning Process
- Lead project teams comprised of Analysts and Managers; oversee data analytics processes to ensure conclusions are grounded in fact
- Actively Manage multiple project teams simultaneously, working with analysts & managers to drive outcomes
- Execute against time-sensitive requests from the Senior Director-Corporate Strategy, as well as cross-functional business partners
- Build “Executive ready” project deliverables
- Add personal insight, galvanize discussion and debate across the organization on key strategic issues, generating ideas and creative frameworks, and use a combination of facts, judgment, and personal impact to build credibility and influence outcomes.
- Maintain an external mindset, including staying on top of consumer, competitive, technology, customer and macroeconomic/geopolitical trends
- Own 1-2 campus relationships for ongoing recruiting for both Strategy and Business Development
- Lead the agenda for a key capability area for the entire Global Strategy function (e.g., Recruiting, Training, Knowledge Management, etc.)
Professional Experience & Competencies:
- 5+ years of business experience in strategy consulting, related business analysis, functional line experience within strategy, marketing, finance, operations, or sales analytics with a history of demonstrated business success.
- 3+ years of consulting experience with one of the blue-chip strategy consulting firms (Bain, BCG, McKinsey, etc.) or comparable strategy consulting firm / function is desired.
- Highly analytical, motivated, decisive thought leader with excellent managerial skills and the ability to independently generate strategic insights
- Strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, frame key questions, develop analytical frameworks and then create a workplan to deliver an answer and clearly synthesize the results
- Outstanding project management skills, with ability to scope projects, manage, teams, deliver results against set expectations, timelines, and budgets, etc.
- High Emotional Intelligence and verbal and written communication skills that educate and influence senior leaders; ability to “manage up"
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree is required
- MBA from a top-tier business school is strongly preferred
