Director, Education, Training, & Assessments, Hybrid

Position Compensation: $100,000 annually, benefits include health, life, and dental insurance, internet allowance, paid time off, and 401(k), profit sharing.

Leading the Education, Training, & Assessments Department, the Director, Education, Training, & Assessments ensures the coordinaton and administration of career readiness, basic skills, and occupational skills training offered through Employ Prince George’s programming, the American Job Centers, apprenticeships, and other workforce development programs operated within the Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network.

The Director must be committed to improving teaching practices through collaboration with staff, community members, and job seekers alike. They will oversee the operations of certification or credentialing programs, and ensure that all activities and requirements regarding the organization’s education and certification programs are met. Simultaneously, they manage the budgets, policies, and procedures that support the functional infrastructure of the department, and supervise the staff therein.

Reporting, Working Relationships, & Classification:

The Director, Education, Training, & Assessments reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and supervises the Workforce Development Instructors. They work closely with organization leadership, contractors, and external stakeholders. This position is exempt.

Essential Responsibilities

Relationship Management & Business Engagement

  • Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with Employ Prince George’s staff, the Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network members, workforce system stakeholders, and partners to meet the needs of local businesses, job seekers, and industries
  • Review and execute work-based learning contracts to meet federal guidelines
  • Adapt to consistently changing work environments, programs, partners, needs of industry, needs of job seekers
  • Coordinate with general and specialized education teachers to design programming and select curriculum based on student learning objectives
  • Collaborate with school administrators to plan budgets that support curriculum development
  • Conduct consultative sales visits, identify business needs, and recommend appropriate training solutions
  • Work with human resources professionals, internally and externally, to plan and develop training materials, procedures, and schedules for professional development programs

Service Delivery

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of workshop and classroom facilitation of the department staff, along with coordinating training for various programs, developing and improving training curricula, and maintaining Employ Prince George’s educational accreditations
  • Assess trainings annually for quality and relativeness, while ensuring the organization and/or staff are appropriately accredited/credentialed to provide said training
  • Coordinate and, as needed, facilitate classroom instruction of Employ Prince George’s apprenticeship/pre-apprenticeship training
  • Coordinate with various partners, divisions, departments, and staff, operating at multiple levels, to ensure the administration and coordination of career readiness, basic skills, and occupational skills training in Prince George’s County and the DC Metropolitan Area
  • Assess and choose textbooks, assessment materials, and curriculum standards
  • Plan scopes and sequences of academic curricula according to school and district schedules
  • Assist partner facilities in the evaluation and selection of lecture, workshop, and tutorial activities and materials

Department Oversight & Staff Supervision

  • Supervise and mentor department staff, prioritize and assign work.
  • Make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Conduct performance evaluations and ensure staff is appropriately trained
  • Oversee the identification and creation of training curricula and service delivery instruction leading to program completion, certifications, and employment of graduates
  • Encourage and develop staff member’s individual initiative and ability to take ownership of tasks, initiatives, and curriculum implementation
  • Ensure tracking of daily training activities, data entry into the appropriate system(s), and analyzing individual and collective outcomes and activities of Workforce Development Instructors and the Education, Training, & Assessments Department as a whole
  • Train staff members in the use of new curriculum practices, delivery methods, and assessment measures
  • Oversee the execution of various educational programs for literacy and skill development, along with tutorial programs for practical applications like technology use
  • Develop, plan, implement, and administer departmental goals and objectives

Compensation for this position is $100,000 per year.
