Job Summary - Director, Employee Health Services
Reporting to the SVP, People Operations, the Director, Employee Health Services is administratively and operationally responsible for defining, developing, integrating, and coordinating the delivery and reporting of system-wide employee health services functions and processes with direct oversight within the Corewell Health System. This position works to align team member health services programs, strengthens compliance with respect to internal/regulatory requirements, assists with accurate data capture and training as necessary, and aims to provide an exceptional team member experience for all customers.
Essential Functions - Director, Employee Health Services
  • Responsible for development, implementation, and validation of an employee health services strategy for Corewell Health. Provides administrative leadership and support to Employee Health Services leaders supporting Employee Health clinics in the East, West, and South divisions who are responsible for the clinic’s staffing, maintenance of clinical policies and protocols, medical recordkeeping, data capture and reporting, and delivery of clinical procedures and customer service. (3 leader direct reports, and approximately 50-60 FTE across 3 Corewell Health divisions)
  • Key priorities include system-wide oversight of the following work:
  • New hire health assessments (immunizations, hand hygiene, training, color blind testing, fit testing, etc.)
  • Team member exposures/work-related injuries (i.e. – needlesticks, BBP exposure, immunizations)
  • COVID testing/Return to Work – (i.e. - result covid tests and provider leaders/team members with return-to-work dates)
  • Annual team member clinics (i.e. – Fit Testing, Flu/COVID, TB, Mass exposure testing (i.e., MRSA)
  • Compliance monitoring/Gap Analysis – (i.e. – verifying and ensuring compliance with required system-wide immunizations)
  • Vaccine exemptions – (i.e. – reviewing requests and communicate decisions to team members)
  • Accountable for team member engagement, adequate staffing levels, budget development and compliance, staffing decisions including hiring and terminating employment, coaching, and counseling team members on work-related performance, and developing and implementing employee health services-related policies and procedures to sure a safe and effective work environment.
  • Ensures training, monitoring and operations initiatives are implemented which secure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/government regulations.
  • Continuous collaboration with leave administration team within human resources to provide clinical case management consultation as needed for a variety of approved leaves that may require clinical review and expertise.
  • Actively participates as needed in any system/corporate committees to harmonize policies and procedures from a Corewell Health system perspective. Represents employee health services on any safety and/or occupational health committees as appropriate.
  • Responsible to oversee clinical delivery of service to strategically position employee health services-related programs and services. Ensures the timely delivery of clinical services.
  • Monitors HIPPA compliance processes to project employee privacy regarding employment/patient concerns.
  • Monitors and maintains a constant state of readiness with compliance processes for both internal and external regulatory requirements. Communicates compliance results to both affected departments and operational managers. Interacts extensively to facilitate data capture processes, electronic system upgrades, and coordination of multiple databases and distribution of reports to necessary customers.
  • Responsible for employee health services budget. Facilitates revenue, payment, and allocation mechanisms. Monitors monthly allocation amounts and answer questions and facilitates issues from appropriate financial analyst.

Qualifications - Director, Employee Health Services
  • Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent In a healthcare related area or related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience Of healthcare experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience in Employee Health/Occupational Health leading, developing, implementing, and managing employee health services programs Required
  • 5 years of relevant experience Leading and developing team members - Required
  • Previous Employee Health/Occupational health clinical experience strongly preferred
