The Opportunity:

Your role at Sephora... As our Director of Engineering, eCommerce Development, your goal is to help deliver the most innovative and intuitive eCommerce experience in Beauty. You will partner with business, UX, Site, Store, Development and QA teams to help define Sephora’s eCommerce technology strategy. Reporting to the Senior Director of eCommerce and Post purchase and partnering closely with our Director of ecommerce Product, you will vet product ideas and facilitate design and delivery of the best technology solutions. You will have the opportunity to develop applications that impact millions of clients in both North America & Canada. Your focus is going to be on APIs and back end microservices which are integral part of the core eCommerce.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Define technology strategy for eCommerce related applications
  • Collaborate with key executives and technology stakeholders to create and execute technology roadmap, balancing competing interests and needs across the organization to arrive at a clear vision
  • Manage geographically distributed teams to deliver products with high quality and within the stipulated budget
  • Influence and inform resources and partners whom you do not directly manage and communicate effectively to get alignment on requirements and decisions
  • Directly manage a talented team of eCommerce engineers
  • Contribute to the overall system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability and performance of the sephora.com and the eCommerce APIs

We would love to hear from you if…

  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role (previous Director experience preferred)
  • At least 7 years of eCommerce / Web development experience with expertise in building retail applications with consumer orientation
  • A strong track record of hiring stellar engineers and contribute to their career growth
  • Deep experience in the developing shopping applications (preferred), with an understanding of the technical and client experience differences between site, mobile web, tablet and apps
  • Experience as a strong leader who can think strategically and grow the team rapidly
  • The ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and collaborate well with cross-functional teams.
  • A nimble skillset and you are flexible with regards to changing priorities & business needs.
  • Working experience with Oracle ATG eCommerce Suite / Commerce Tools / Salesforce eCommerce Suites
  • Good knowledge on the design and development of Restful / Graph QL API’s
  • Experience in building service-oriented applications
  • Computer Science degree is a plus
  • Experience in managing remote teams
  • Working knowledge in databases like Oracle / MS SQL / No-SQLs

The target annual base salary range for this position is $195,000.00 - $217,500.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
