The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks a dynamic and strategic Director of Core Services for the Central West Region. The selected candidate will manage and supervise the Maintenance Department and its trades, including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, institution maintenance foreman, project coordinators, and temp staff, issuing daily work orders to keep homes well maintained and safe. The geographical scope for the Central West Region ranges from 495 West to Pittsfield and includes 102 residential and habilitative State Operated homes and services for 469 Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Responsible for the upkeep of 20 State-owned properties, 5 State-owned Vendor operated homes in the Region and jointly supported properties with DCAMM.

Responsibilities include identifying areas of capital and minor repair construction needs for the state-owned homes including provision of labor and material costs of internal construction changes, development of specifications for RFRs. Prioritization of maintenance projects to ensure all areas of the Region are maintained to satisfy health and safety standards. Monitor the preventative maintenance program and annual service contracts. In addition, provides consultation and support to project-based initiatives as determined by the Regional Operations Manager. On call for weather emergencies and other health and safety situations.

Manages budgets and ensures compliance with purchasing guidance. Determines work projects that require Central Facilities consultation, outsourcing, provide specifications, collects bids, and makes recommendations for final project award. Develops specifications for projects to post and maintains a tracking system for all current and projected projects. Maintains data sources such as CAMIS and internal reports.


Please Note:

This position is based out of Palmer and will work out of Springfield as well. Travel throughout the Central/West Region required as needed.

Schedule: Monday through Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm; with Sunday and Saturday off.

Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the program.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.

II. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.

III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.

IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required (A) experience.
