POSITION TITLE: Director of Marketing and Public Relations

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field preferred. Must have five years of experience in marketing or public relations field. Must have at least two years of experience as a supervisor. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening. Experience and training which demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is dedicated to improving quality of life through exceptional parks, facilities, events, and recreational opportunities for all.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and directs marketing and PEG station teams.
  • Assists the Executive Director on all HR matters involving the Marketing and Peg Station teams.
  • Coordinates all department marketing efforts, including advertising, public relations, marketing research, direct marketing, social media marketing, and digital marketing.
  • Defines targeted audience and directs marketing to defined market segments.
  • Coordinating with Creative Design, manages the work flow and priorities for all CPRST marketing efforts, ensuring design needs and deadlines are met.
  • Creates annual marketing plan to include research, goals, and strategies for all department marketing.
  • Oversees marketing staff assignments and leads marketing meetings.
  • Coordinates with division heads, supervisors, and the Executive Ddirector to develop and create a marketing strategy for growth and retention efforts for each department.
  • Tracks and evaluates all marketing campaigns for effectiveness and re-focuses efforts as needed.
  • Reports on PR & marketing campaigns’ results
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with media and influential professionals.
  • Arranges interviews and press releases to promote CPRST and its programs, events, and services.
  • Organize PR events to increase awareness for fundraising campaigns and special projects.
  • Monitors and influences media coverage.
  • Manage sensitive issues to maintain CPRST’s and City’s good reputation.
  • Oversees the creation and management of the annual marketing budget for the department.
  • Oversees video shoots for facilities, programs, events, and community updates for PEG station purposes, including City Council meetings, community events, and other similar events.
  • Monitors all CPRST publicly-posted content on social media, websites, public media, and PEG station.
  • Oversees PEG station manager, ensuring the content, scheduling and videos meet the standards established by the PEG Station Board.
  • Develops and maintains brand consistency for parks and recreationCPRST to a high level of public perception.
  • Attends all meetings as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
  • Establishes and maintains sound business and financial procedures in accordance with Federal and State laws and CPRST system policies.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics, working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
  • Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Works a minimum of a forty-hour workweek, likely including some nights and weekends, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work area is well-lighted, ventilated and heated. Occasionally work outdoors where there is a potential to be exposed to various weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Often working in the office at a desk. Must be able to occasionally lift up to forty pounds, sit, stand, stoop or walk for long periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
