The Kensington in Hastings, NE is hiring a Director of Memory Care! We are Agemark Senior Living Communities and for the fourth consecutive year, we are certified #22 in Fortune Best Workplaces for Aging Services 2022! We are looking for a Director of Memory Care. In this role, you’ll be responsible to work with families, service providers, and employees to meet resident needs by providing excellent, consistent, and personalized services based on the principles and values of the company and the Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s care. Manage your Memory care staff, and oversee the department supplies and staff budget so you reach census while using your LPN license. Work to create an environment you would want for YOUR loved one!

Director of Memory Care position details:

  • Assist in hiring, training, and supervising as needed to create a successful team with the approval of the Executive Director. Conduct timely performance appraisals.
  • Develop, lead, challenge, and motivate through effective communication, ongoing training and other personal growth opportunities, and recognition programs.
  • Address problems and grievances; carry out disciplinary action and dismissals when necessary with the advice, and support of the Director.
  • Operate within the annual budget.
  • Work with families, service providers, and employees to meet resident needs by providing excellent, consistent, and personalized services based on the principles and values of the company.
  • Help residents to live safely and with dignity through supportive, security, and privacy measures, as well as emergency response systems and protocols.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with all regulations.
  • Counsel families and residents to make informed choices regarding health or service plan changes, problem resolution, risk management, and alternative placement or care when necessary.
  • Attend all meetings that involve a memory care resident.
  • Establish a safe routine and fall prevention program for residents who are at risk of falling. Encourage and provide an exercise program around the abilities of individual residents.
  • Participate in all marketing, public relations, advertising, and sales activities, in partnership with the Director concerning memory care. Update marketing systems and complete reports.
  • Assure all areas of the neighborhood are always clean and well-maintained.
  • Engage in employee, resident, family, and company marketing events, and activities.

Director of Memory Care knowledge, skills, abilities, and requirements:

  • Nursing degree STRONGLY favored; degree in Geriatrics, Elderly Care, or related field will be considered with relevant experience along with previous experience in senior housing, elder care or related industry preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Possess knowledge or ability to learn the following: Facility licensure regulations; OSHA regulations; MSDS sheets and procedures; fire and safety procedures; various employment and labor laws, employee testing and workers' compensation; and food service regulations.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills along with a proven track record of integrity.
  • Proficient computer skills with experience in social media networking.
  • Daily engagement and contact with residents, families, prospects, employees, and other professionals, to establish and maintain constructive relationships.
  • Enthusiasm to create an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and optimism within the property, and a positive reputation in the community.
  • Display sound judgment and decision-making, willing to take action, follow through, and know when to defer to Director.
  • Cross coverage in various departments as needs arise.
  • Work scheduled hours based on personnel and community needs including possible weekends and evening shifts.

The salary range is $55,000-$69,000
