The Director of Operations - Coldwater is responsible for the side of the facility and will be responsible for:

Team Building - Priority 1 - 40% of Time. We are at a critical juncture in the protein industry; where those that have strong work cultures and teams will thrive, and those that do not will struggle. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Be a steward of the CGF culture throughout the operations team.
  • Ensure long-term success for the company as a whole through succession planning.
  • Set expectations for all of operations, not only direct reports.
  • Continually evaluate and provide feedback to your respective team to reinforce positive attributes and identify/correct areas for continual improvement.
  • Assessment of team/company strengths and needs as well as demonstrate the ability to align your leadership team to these topics.
  • Ensure disciplinary processes are consistent throughout operations.
  • Coach and develop Superintendents through internal development tools.
  • Act as a key voice in the communication of corporate initiatives and ensure that the communication to all of our Team Members is consistent with the intended message/tone of the CFG Executive Team.
  • Identify and document skills matrix (personal development plans) for Superintendents and ensure actions to address gaps are completed in the agreed upon timeframes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to coordinate available resources to ensure Superintendents are coached in all aspects of our business.
  • Perform duties in the hiring process as a "hiring manager" to include Onboarding of new exempt Team Members.
  • Network for future CFG Team Members across all sectors of our business.
  • Proactively support and manage change through internal change management process.

Performance Management - Priority 2 - 20% of Time. Review departmental action plans with Superintendents to improve performance.

  • Lead weekly staff meetings. Focus on aspects of running a successful business (Retention, Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Environmental consciousness, Yield/Labor targets, etc.).
  • Facilitate and support root cause analysis with management team.
  • Ensure training and implementation of all regulatory/compliance objectives are met.
  • Verify consistent processes, SOPs & documentation are in place to manage production.
  • Ensure teams have identified short term goals/actions to improve results.
  • Perform audits to monitor Superintendent and department performance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve complex business problems across multiple business segments.

Process Management - Priority 3 - 20% of Time. Develop and maintain processes for monitoring performance consistently with KPIs and our Key Expectations.

  • Work closely with cost accounting to monitor operational results and help to create new tracking mechanisms, when necessary, to bring exposure to opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent process application throughout operations.
  • Identify and implement best practices through industry awareness, networking, technical periodicals and plant visits.
  • Maintain and network with internal/external partners to drive improvements.
  • Provide financial and design justification for all requested capital projects.
  • Align resources for development of Standard Operating Procedures including HACCP, SQF, and other requirements; including our Quality Control Programs.
  • Demonstrate the ability/willingness to work cross-functionally with other areas of our business (Sales, Category Management, etc.).
  • Actively seek to identify and destroy silos between neighboring business segments.
  • Approve staffing needs & work with your HRBP to evaluate expected business changes.
  • Leverage strategic planning process thru setting initiatives and rocks.

Team CFG - Priority 4 - 20% of Time. Represent Ops in company/support areas when needed.

  • Support Research and Development projects as a resource.
  • Participate in company initiative/steering team(s).
  • Present relevant production information across all levels of organization when necessary.
  • Attend, participate and/or lead in leadership development opportunities.
  • Support sales through being a technical expert on calls.
  • Lead plant tours for strategic partners.
  • Participate in organizational meetings (Sanitation, USDA, Safety, Staff, CSI, CI, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Experience in Protein Manufacturing required. Experience in Pork is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) is strongly preferred.
  • 7-10 Years Operations management experience with emphasis on team building. Preference would be to have experience including front line supervision and staff management.
  • Prior experience in customer facing positions preferred. Excellent written/verbal communication/presentation required.
