Position Summary:

This position is responsible for leading the engineering department of the company. This role is primarily focused on strategic outcomes and execution, including creating functional strategy and specific objectives for sub-functions of Product and Process Engineering. The director of engineering operations is accountable for managing the department's workstreams with cross-functions and other activities, including fiscal management, project timelines, training, and administration.

The Director of Operations takes a direct approach to managing new products, identifying requirements, and setting timelines for deliverables.

This position reports to the VP of Operations and partners with cross-functions and stakeholders to drive strategy.

  • Coordinating internal teams, including Operations, Development, and Quality
  • Implementing new systems and solutions for process and product management
  • Lead the product engineering and process engineering ownership through Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM)
  • Examining technology, resources at hand, and market demands to make informed decisions on project practicality, and foreseeable project execution issues.
  • Recruiting qualified employees and tracking performance
  • Developing a succession plan for critical positions
  • Fostering a culture of collaboration and ensuring that employees work together in support of project plans to fulfill production objectives
  • Assisting in 5S and safety initiatives and supporting other lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Conducting various analyses and preparing reports, presentations, to support fact-based situational awareness and decision-making amongst the engineering team.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must be authorized to work and reside in the US and must be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government to confirm with but not limited to U.S export control regulations.
Education/Experience:
  • Master's degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One (1) to five (5) years of Technology and Manufacturing experience; optics and photonics is a plus.
