POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Operations and in cooperation with Camps’ Facility Directors, the Director of Operations is responsible for implementing and supporting operational functions and facilities management at Camp Seafarer. The Director of Operations will be responsible for managing such functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the Board of Directors, governing committees and administrative staff of the YMCA of the Triangle Area.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In coordination with Senior Operations Director, responsible for supporting all centralized operational functions year round while ensuring highest quality and customer service.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises Seafarer’s Head Housekeepers, including liaison to program needs. Responsible for ensuring high quality work standards.
  • Responsible for planning, management and customer service of the Coastal Cabin Rental program, to include being primary contact to coordinate response when guests are on site.
  • Management of Camps’ transportation function including: Approved Driver’s Training, CDL training, all summer camper/staff transportation to and from Camp, field trips and other special transportation, ensuring association compliance and supervision of staff.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Association Fleet Superintendent to ensure the operation and coordination of Camps’ vehicle fleet including vehicle registrations, maintenance and cleanliness while maintaining and updating all Fleetio records.
  • When not in direct service and in coordination with Senior Operations Director, supports facilities in areas of priority deemed by Facilities Directors to include grounds, facility projects, Golf Course Management, and other duties that supports the facilities team.
  • Responsible for serving as Lead Facilitator for 75% of non-summer programs ensuring program quality with excellent standards including staff customer service, and ensuring operational effectiveness.
  • Leads sustainability efforts and oversees daily cleanliness of trash/recycling areas.
  • In conjunction with the Association Risk Management Department, serves as the Camps’ Risk Resource Officer, therefore responsible for ensuring association safety standards for equipment, facilities and grounds and worker’s comp.
  • Serves as the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) for both pools during the non-summer months.
  • Foster relationships and oversite of service contractors in preparation for opening of camp (Fire extinguishers, floor and carpet cleaning, etc.) and continuing throughout the year.
  • Primary contact and oversite of contractors to include security and laundry services, season dependent.
  • Manages, organizes and coordinates, in conjunction with Association IT, all touch to talk mobile phones when in use.
  • Participates on the Facilities & Operations Tactical Team, Risk Resource Team and other teams as needed.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Assist with other functions, execute other duties and responsibilities assigned by Director team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional, courteous, friendly, and able to relate well to the public while enforcing branch policies in a positive and professional manner.
  • Self-disciplined and have strong communication skills and be well organized.
  • Personnel leadership abilities and knowledge of standard business procedures; the ability to determine and set priorities, capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Positive attitude and enjoying working in a team-oriented environment is essential to success.
  • CDL Class B license with a P endorsement, or be able to obtain one required.
  • Certified Pool Operator certificate, or be able to obtain one required.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment and lawn maintenance equipment, and perform general maintenance on vehicles and general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and light carpentry.
  • The position requires the ability to work with Microsoft Office.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.

  • Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The YMCA of the Triangle requires employees to comply with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts. Further training and detail will be provided upon question.
