This is a newly created position at Ferrara where an individual will have the ability to build something from the ground up!

Ferrara/KME are premiere manufacturers of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles offering a full line of pumpers, aerials, industrial, wildland, and rescue apparatus. Working hands-on with both municipal and industrial fire departments, the Ferrara/KME team thrives on diagnosing departments' current apparatus limitations and response needs to custom design the perfect fire apparatus solution that will stand the test of time.

The Planning and Inventory Control Director is responsible for the following materials areas within the Business Unit, S&OP, Master Scheduling, Material Requirements Planning, ERP Parameter Management, Production & Inventory Control, Production Planning, Logistics, and Inventory Management. In addition, the role is responsible for managing metrics to the agreed-upon scorecard. The Planning and Inventory Control Director works closely with sales administration, engineering, purchasing, and Operations management to ensure an effective flow of materials to meet production and shipping schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead the Business Unit S&OP process clearing driving demand through the entire planning horizon.
  • Ensure the S&OP output in translated into the Master Production Schedule and that all firm, variable, and open plannings windows are accounted for via process and deliverables.
  • Lead the detailed production planning process tied to the MPS and aligned to the Business Unit labor, material, and machine / equipment capacities
  • Strategically set and ensure all applicable ERP capabilities and functions are appropriately managed to achieve the desired level of output and at the optimal level of risk
  • Provide leadership over physical inventory movements that tie back to the systemic parameters and supports optimal lineside material presentation
  • Leads the onsite logistics capability from inbound receiving to outbound shipment. Inclusive of the movement and storage of all good both internal and external.
  • Drives financial accountability of all aspect of inventory management supporting both the Business Units build requirements but optimal cash flow management
  • Ability to successfully work across the organization, while influencing change regardless of direct reporting relationship.
  • Provide leadership and partners with key stakeholders across the business unit to drive process improvement and meet business objectives.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, cross-functional/cross-divisional collaboration, and goal planning and execution.
  • Supports the Materials team by removing obstacles and striving for best-in-class performance management.
  • Leads the team in achieving and supporting functional and continuous improvement-based development (ex-APICS, LEAN Six Sigma, etc)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • APICS Certified, with demonstrated application of the APICS Body of Knowledge within past work experience.
  • Systems knowledge – design/selection/implementation (Materials – MRP, Inventory Optimization; S&OP / Demand Planning; Purchasing; Inventory Tracking – Voice, bar codes, RFID, etc.).
  • LEAN Training with practical application and leadership experience.
  • Multi-plant Management is preferred, where the focus is given on managing client/provider relationships between vertically integrated plants; JIT in a demand-driven / continuous flow environment.
  • Materials management experience in an environment including customized manufacturing, multi-level Bill of Material.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications as needed to satisfactorily perform work assignments – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint as well as the ability to learn company enterprise systems as needed.
  • Must be organized, able to prioritize, set and keep deadlines, change direction quickly, and adapt to various work environments easily.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written, including following instructions.
  • Must be able to work effectively in group settings through collaborative, solutions-oriented, and win-win approaches.
  • Develop presentations to be delivered to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts like quadratic equations and basic logic functions such as if-then-else statements.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience with materials, purchasing, supply chain, or related functions.
  • Bachelor’s degrees in Materials, Supply Chain, Business, or related field required – advanced degree is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $116,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
