SALARY RATE -

DOE: $150,000 - $175,000 / year

PRIMARY PURPOSE -

The Director of Procurement is responsible for the daily operations of the Purchasing Department and activities geared toward profitability and efficiency as well as working with the Operations team to insure schedule and quality. This role implements department policy and facilitates the creation of action plans to achieve specific results. Responsible for the following purchasing processes: vendor, direct cost reductions, budget reporting, process improvement, transportation logistics, and management of direct reports. Directs and manage the company wide inventory and purchasing functions to meet short and long-term company goals. Collaborate with other departments to close operational gaps.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES -

  • Manages overall demand as well as supply planning for all locations. Optimize stock quantities to drive inventory turns and reduce excess, slow-moving, damaged stock while ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Mentored, coached and led the purchasing department to manage inventory levels while balancing the needs of the branch locations.
  • Analyze methods of vendor sourcing to determine best replenishment options.
  • Responsible for collaborating with other team members to achieve the highest level of performance.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and leads purchasing strategy, policies, and procedures, develop plans, formulate guidelines, and make continuous improvements.
  • Handle communications and negotiations with vendors.
  • Interview and hiring of buyers and development of the purchasing team.
  • Establish practices and procedures to be followed by the buyers and other department personnel for inventory replenishment.
  • Responsible for branch inventory by ensuring up-to-date inventory records.
  • Oversees the review and process of preseason orders and trade show orders.
  • Liaison for purchasing with all other departments.
  • Monitors pricing for special buy opportunities.
  • Works with data processing to make sure all costing updates are accurate and timely.
  • Investigates all pricing discrepancies and corrects as needed.
  • Monitors vendor performance.
  • Coordinates with Vendors on product changes and issues.
  • Oversees the disposition of overstock and obsolete inventory, including but not limited to the annual corporate buyback, immediate buyback, redistribution of inventory throughout branches.
  • Reviews and monitors inventory turns, stocking, and service levels.
  • Assists all departments and branches with purchasing and inventory related issues.
  • Perform research, special projects or write reports as requested by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the purchasing team.

SUPPLY CHAIN & TRANSPORTATION RESPONSIBILITIES -

  • Oversees transportation of all products from Vendors, Corp and within the Tigard group.
  • Manage company inbound and outbound freight programs.
  • Collaborates with the Corp. supply chain team to help build a healthy partnership.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE -

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field required plus 10+ years of management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of procurement in a multi-branch distribution environment.
  • Must possess strong business management, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge in negotiating legal contracts with suppliers and capable of resolving conflicts
  • Detailed knowledge of inventory control principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of procurement in a multi-branch distribution environment.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to operate on an Executive level as part of a high functioning, results-oriented team.
  • Requires extensive proven experience in establishing both long and short- term goals, developing comprehensive business plans to achieve those goals and executing the business plans.
  • Requires a proven record of exceeding expectations, regarding both financial and non-financial metrics. Requires the ability to effectively work with other team members to create a healthy organization and a culture based on respect, trust, cooperation, and commitment.
