Job Description


GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Note: This is primarily an onsite position based in Red Wing, MN, an easy drive from the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs.

Red Wing Shoe Company is seeking a qualified quality professional to lead our Quality Team. This individual will be responsible for providing leadership for the Supply Chain quality and regulatory functions, developing/implementing strategies that optimize technical process and people capabilities to drive achievement of all supply chain quality metrics, as well as support of achievement of safety, cost, service and people/culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements quality and regulatory strategies to optimize capabilities including but not limited to assessment of current state, identification of future state needs, research of external capabilities/technologies, formulation/implementation of action plans.
  • Oversees key projects assuring execution to plan, early identification/remediation of corrective measures and engagement of appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provides quality functional expertise including but not limited to process controls, data analysis, regulatory compliance, materials and people skill requirements.
  • Identifies, leverages and audits external vendors to meet business demand and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal business requirements while effectively collaborating with Strategic Sourcing to negotiate contracts.
  • Develops and implements goals and action plans that align with Supply Chain and other business partners to achieve all quality metrics and other key business objectives: safety, cost, service, people.
  • Insure effective collaboration within Supply Chain, product creation and all other business partners.
  • Achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions and effectively partnering with other stakeholders.
  • Manage, empower and develop an effective functional team through appropriate selection, coaching/training/development, reward/recognition, communication and enforcement/role modeling of company policies and procedures.
  • Work with regulatory agencies on existing and new standards to ensure RWSC is properly represented and capable of meeting mandated requirements.
  • Ensure effective process for raw material and finished product traceability.

OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain necessary information by maintaining knowledge of RWSC’s electronic communication and other systems.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing organization quality system procedures (QSP’s) and standards.
  • Uphold and role model Red Wing Shoe Company’s core values, policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard the assets of the Company, treating all technical developments, operational data, information on salaries and wages, customer lists, and similar data as required.
  • Comply with all governmental laws and regulations which pertain to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Assure Company awareness of industry standards and new/innovative practices by establishing and maintaining strong industry networks and continuous learning.
  • Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager.

  • Occasional climbing, lifting, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Located in an office environment
  • Significant time spent in manufacturing facilities
  • Frequent domestic and some international travel

Qualifications


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, industrial technology or other related field and 7 to 10 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Manufacturing leadership experience in quality required
  • Strong strategic skills with willingness and ability to execute
  • Excellent Communication (verbal, written, listening) skills with all levels
  • Strong Collaboration and Team Building skills
  • Exceptional Influencing and Negotiating skills
  • Superior Analytical Skills including LEAN/TPS working knowledge
  • Strong systems skills
  • Drive for results and Superior execution
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR KNOWLEDGE:

  • Footwear manufacturing experience preferred
