Brief Summary of Job Duties

Under the direction of the Audit Director, and in close relationship with the Associate Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor, utilizes wide-ranging experience and subject matter expertise to design, conduct, and oversee a campus wide financial training program. Evaluates training needs and determines the best approach for training delivery (i.e. eLearning, Instructor-led learning, on-the-job learning, etc). Works extensively with campus subject matter experts (SMEs), vendors, and project team members to deliver appropriate training. Determines training needs and develops and implements training programs, using effective technology and learning approaches. Applies change management theory into training, when appropriate. Provides consultation and training needs assessments to senior management and departments financial training initiatives and resulting change management needs. Designs and develops User Guides and Quick Reference Guides for financial systems such as OFC and Concur. Trainings are for administrators, graduate students, staff and Faculty. Leads and mentors other staff members, other location units and/or project team participants in training & development. Demonstrates ongoing responsibility for specific training programs and initiatives. Determines how training and other workplace learning and performance strategies can best be leveraged to achieve successful organizational outcomes. Applies knowledge to partner with clients to identify opportunities by evaluating and recommending solutions. Uses expertise and in-depth understanding of best practices to determine methods and procedures for new training assignments and initiatives. Training programs include required trainings and ad hoc training needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Expertise in financial literacy training.

Supervisory experience managing both technical and functional staff.

Preferred Qualifications

7-9 years Experience in developing and implementing a organizational wide financial training program.

As a Trainer 5, has significant impact and influence on organizational policy and program development. Regularly leads projects of critical importance to the organization; these projects carry substantial consequences of success or failure. Directs programs with organization-wide impact (or may have impact beyond the University) that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources. Regularly guides senior leaders on training and development initiatives to support teaching and learning outcomes with systemwide impact. As recognized expert, may consult with leaders to provide strategic guidance on methods for delivery of course content. May lead team to conduct highly complex training studies and needs analyses to ensure effectiveness of current and new training initiatives. Provides direction and guidance to others across the organization, important external contacts, and members of organization management at all levels to resolve highly complex performance and /or training issues, where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation and understanding of organization strategies and objectives. Develops and implements evaluation criteria for measuring desired results and impact, requiring in-depth understanding of issues and relevant factors for success. Uses expertise and in-depth understanding of best practices to determine methods and procedures for new training assignments and initiatives. Represents organization to external training community on matters of significance. Leads and mentors other staff members in training & development, other location units and / or project team.

50% Training Delivery & Evaluation: Delivers blended learning programs including classroom Instructor-led training, e-learning and videos to ensure that appropriate training methodologies are utilized. Facilitates End User Computing Support training classes for faculty/staff and the campus customer community. Creates all courses, course offerings, and system-generated announcements in the Learning Management System (LMS). Coordinates and tracks LMS registration and course completion by participants. Manages training communications in coordination with senior management and other key stakeholders. Practices continuous improvement in piloting, implementing and revising learning programs as necessary to meet changing UCSB needs. Utilizes adult learning theory approaches in classroom delivery. Determines ongoing training programs based on consultation with directors, analysis of campus needs, and changing priorities. Analyzes enrollment trends and enrollee evaluations to determine future training program design. Conducts ongoing evaluations of training effectiveness, recommends and implements program improvements that are integrated with the strategic goals and direction of financial literacy campuswide.
