Store Preservation

The Store Preservation team (traditionally known as “Retail Facilities”) sits within our Store Development team and is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and execution of sustainability initiatives across our 600+ stores in North America.


Your role at Sephora:
The Director of Store Preservation is responsible for developing and implementing store maintenance programs for 600+ properties from inception. Develops and manages annual maintenance budgets. Identifies needs for and negotiates favorable service agreements with service providers. Maintains accurate financial forecast of maintenance cost and reports Monthly. Identifies long term needs of growing store base and implementation of systems, staff, or technology to support those emerging areas. Manages and respond to emergency situations as required on a 24-hour, 7-day basis. Must possess high-level client service skills, attention to detail, demonstrate the ability to assign priority to multiple requests simultaneously, and remain cool under pressure. Reporting to the Senior Director of Store Transformation, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and cleanliness of our retail stores for our clients and employees. Key responsibilities include:


  • Oversee and interact with entire North America store fleet, 600+ locations.
  • Manage and develop Store Preservation team, currently 7 people.
  • Demonstrate high-level client service skills, attention to detail, ability to assign priority to multiple requests simultaneously, and remain cool under pressure.
  • Develop strong partnerships with Store Directors, District Managers, Regional Directors, and Loss Prevention field teams.
  • Develop strong, meaningful relationships with cross-functional business partners in Business Operations, Store Design, Construction, Procurement, Legal and others.
  • Oversee and manage daily store maintenance/fixture repair work order process through Store Maintenance Hotline (HLOL).
  • Maintain and recommend improvements to ServiceNow/Corrigo, our work order management application and database that enables HLOL.
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of a project to include developing the scope, budget, collecting quotes, timeline, access coordination, construction, commissioning, and timely communication with all parties.
  • Negotiates agreements and evaluates performance of maintenance and repair vendor partners.
  • Analyze vendor KPI metrics and scorecards and hold vendors accountable for high standards of performance.
  • Identify R&M trends, communicate findings to leadership, and help develop plans and strategies to proactively resolve emerging trends.
  • Track routine service requests and ensure timely completion of all work orders while keeping within budget. Analyze and determine ways to reduce store maintenance expenses.
  • Manage invoice process for Store Preservation team.
  • Engages/coaches Store Operations on store condition & roles/responsibilities
  • Manage preventive maintenance services such as janitorial, 3rd party cleaning, HVAC, electrical, fire and life safety systems
  • Manage facilities contractor/supplier/vendor network in fleet Including vendor training and performance feedback.
  • Manage store EMS system and work with key business partners to manage energy usage across our fleet.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required on a 24-hour, 7-day basis. Inform leadership of any potential business disruptions or escalations.
  • Ownership of written communications on store facilities procedures and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team.


We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 7+ years of Facilities maintenance or construction management experience.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, preferably in the facilities management space
  • Preferred facilities management accreditation (ProFM, RFMP, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills to respond to inquiries, address concerns, and ensure cooperative and productive work relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and delegate workload effectively.
  • A proactive approach, high sense of urgency, the ability to innovate, work independently, and deliver results.
  • General knowledge of HVAC, EMS, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems.
  • General knowledge of maintenance/construction trade & regulations, blueprints, and schematic drawings.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System like ServiceChannel, Corrigo, Fexa, etc.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of tools, Smartsheet, Box, and other productivity software.
  • Ability to travel (up to 30%) and conduct store inspections, when necessary.

The target annual base salary range for this position is $170,000.00 - $180,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
