Position Profile:

The individual will be a member of US Sleep Marketing team and will be responsible for commercial development efforts in the US for Jazz’s product indicated for narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. This individual will work closely with others in numerous functional areas including but not limited to Brand Teams, Market Access Value, Forecasting, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Advocacy, Global Molecule Team, Clinical and other colleagues. This position will report to the VP Marketing, Sleep Business Unit and will work closely with the Brand Leads.

Brief Description:

The Idiopathic Hypersomnia and Narcolepsy markets are rare diseases, each with less than 200,000 patients. Idiopathic Hypersomnia is an underdeveloped and immature market with a low diagnosis rate. Xywav’s value proposition of lower sodium is an important value proposition in an increasingly crowded narcolepsy market.

The Sleep Commercial Development will lead the brand’s long term market development efforts for Narcolepsy and Idiopathic Hypersomnia. Within Idiopathic Hypersomnia, there is an opportunity to define the IH market whereas in Narcolepsy, the opportunity exists to elevate the impact of high sodium intake in people with Narcolepsy. Key areas of responsibility will include defining the long-term strategy to shape these markets with supporting efforts centered around treatment guidelines, evidence generation and addressing competitive readiness within these markets. Specifically, this role will work indication brand leads and global molecule team to support efforts in data generation as well as leverage existing data to educate stakeholders (HCPs/Payers/Patients), ensuring they understand the problem and recommended solution.

Specific duties:

  • Develop and gain alignment for the brand’s long-term strategy across both indications
  • Drive the development of the IH and Narcolepsy market to enable long term growth in these areas
  • Develop strategies with medical affairs and patient advocacy to shape the future of IH and Narcolepsy and outmaneuver the competition
  • Define success and KPIs for tracking market development and messaging strategy progress.
  • Support the annual operating and tactical plan development process focused on market development activities (which may include multi year investments)

Essential Functions

  • Lead development of long-term market shaping strategy for Idiopathic Hypersomnia and Narcolepsy markets to support brand growth given immature market conditions and competitive oxybate market dynamics
  • Anticipate and support data generation efforts in partnership with global, value, brand and clinical/medical teams
  • Support the development of revenue and long-term financial forecast assumptions in partnership with VP Marketing and brand leads
  • Partner with competitive intelligence team to ensure franchise readiness in future competitive landscapes
  • Evaluation of new formulations, label updates and assessment of future indications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of commercial pharmaceutical work experience, 5+ years of which commercial development work
  • Experience in market shaping and defining a category with successful outcome of brand growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related discipline; MBA is desirable
  • 10+ years previous US pharmaceutical with strong commercial experience and long-term strategy development
  • Demonstrated success in commercial/marketing roles in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with strong commercial development execution, and market analytics skills. You drive results in a highly matrixed organization without direct authority, and you can establish effective trust-based relationships with internal and external stakeholders from different functions and seniority levels.

  • Pharmaceutical career progression demonstrating growth in responsibility and scope, particularly in commercial positions

Description of Work Environment:

  • Frequent computer laptop or tablet use, not usually at a workstation.
  • Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of “normal” work hours, in order to meet business demands.
  • Frequent public contact requiring appropriate business apparel.

For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $176,000-$231,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
