JOB SUMMARY

Within the framework of the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the Dishwasher is responsible for loading dishwasher and washing pots, pans and cutlery among other kitchen duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience, while not required, is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS

• A valid California food handler card is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to speak and understand English to communicate with residents clearly and perform essential functions of the job in a safe manner.
• Demonstrate discretion in all matters related to the assignment, including confidential information that is seen or heard.
• Collaborates in keeping a clean and safe working kitchen and dining area.
• Must comply with uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

· Is respectful of the culture of religious communities with special attention to serving and caring with compassion in order to foster a spirit of unity and reconciliation.

• Must be willing to work irregular hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supports and implements the Mission, Vision & Values of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
• Sweep, mop, dust and clean kitchen area.
• Takes out trash, cleans shelves and tables.
• Cleans drawers and ice cream freeze regularly.
• Cleans coffee urn daily and keeps station clean.
• Assists washing dishes, cleans tables and trays, while also operates dishwashing machine.
• Assists with occasional special events as requested.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a religious residential assisted living setting that is community-focused and empowering for the residents who have a strong sense of agency in their day to day lives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to frequently stand; walk; use hands or fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 60 pounds, including pushing and pulling. The employee must be able to self-transfer and move throughout the facility. The employee must be able to perform effectively with frequent interruptions and the mental and emotional stress of the position. Flexibility with schedule worked may be necessary.

There will be use of equipment, tools and appliances that can be dangerous if not used properly.
