Pay Range: $102,000– $156,700

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Division Controller will run the day-to-day accounting operations and month end close. This position will be responsible for communication and problem solving with the plants and other departments, meet deadlines, and a multitude of accounting activities, including financial reporting. The Division Controller will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze the organization’s income and expenditures and ensure compliance with regulations and tax laws
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and consolidated financial statements
  • Responsible for month end close and budget planning
  • Prepare and approve journal entries
  • Manage staff performing accounting and customer service duties
  • Prepare freight income and expense report
  • Close A/R for month end including the following:
    • Prepare list of open orders
    • Review prepay for qualification and discount application
    • Post monthly service charges
  • Prepare management reports as requested
  • Gather support for audits

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Special projects and/or other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILLS

Knowledge of:

  • SAP experience is highly desired
  • Agriculture or manufacturing industry helpful

Skills:

Accounting Operations: Knowledge of accounting operations including A/R, Credit and Collections, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition to ensure accuracy

Attention to Detail: Completes tasks efficiently and accurately while paying close attention to detail.

Employee Management: Maintains accurate records and tracking of team absenteeism and time-keeping. Demonstrated responsibility for employee hiring and retention, performance reviews, departmental conducting of employee training & development, & discipline

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional certificate such as CPA, CMA or CFM preferred
  • Practical training or experience in an audit or CPA firm is beneficial, or previous experience in a Controller role
  • At least eight years’ accounting experience
  • Minimum five years’ preparing financial statements
  • Advanced level proficiency in MS Excel
  • Valid California driver’s license and insurable DMV

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: frequent use of keyboard; frequent sitting for long periods of time and occasional driving to other locations; occasional bending or squatting; frequent decision-making and concentration; frequent co-worked and/or public contact; occasional working alone; frequent exposure to noise; frequent reading and close-up work.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a typical temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment. Work might be performed off site and in plant locations on an occasional basis in a loud environment exposed to colder temperatures. Position may require overtime and weekend work.
