JOB TITLE: WAREHOUSE MATERIAL HANDLER / DRIVER

PAY: $18.25-19.25/hour depending on experience

SUMMARY:

Provides material movement of donated goods/salvaged, new goods and other items for retail and agency operations. Moves material from staging areas to donated goods storage and bale storage areas. Performs baling operations for salvaged textiles, as required. Transfers bales from storage area and loads onto tractor trailer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Handles all aspects of effective and timely transportation of donations, salvage, credentials, new goods, and any other materials in accordance with established guidelines:
• Loads, unloads, and transports inventory to and from the warehouse and retail locations.
• Knows all delivery routes to provide coverage
• Rotates routes to maintain flexibility.
• Maintains the assigned Agency vehicle(s):
• Includes general maintenance and affiliated record keeping, to ensure its safe operation;
• Keeps daily records of trips, recording mileage and times in and out;
• Performs routine maintenance checks such as, but not limited to, fluid levels, lights and brakes, to ensure safe operation;
• Reports all needed repairs to supervisor; and
• Participates in appropriate driver safety programs.
• Operates baler to contain salvaged textiles:
• Removes incoming container to baler staging area;
• Loads and operates baler according to established procedures;
• Unloads completed bales according to established procedures and places in holding areas;
• Maintains bale storage area according to guidelines;
• Moves Gaylord containers to donated goods storage area.
• Maintains a friendly, customer service attitude. Greets donors in a pleasant, professional manner; provides donation receipts upon request.
• Remains trained in all aspects of equipment/material handling safety procedures according to agency guidelines.
• Ensures the safe and efficient movement of materials related to the donated goods program:
• Maintains donated goods inventory storage area floor plan according to agency guidelines;
• Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the Donated Goods Center by remaining cross-trained on all other retail store back room operations and performing all other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one year experience; prior material/equipment handling experience preferred.

OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.

LICENSE

Must have a valid New York State Driver's License, with a good driving record, as approved by the Agency's insurance company.
