Position Summary:

Position will work with the Bradford and Sullivan County Probation departments, as well as, the area district justices. May also perform collection services for other Guthrie and non‐Guthrie entities. The position is responsible for the collection of specimens, form completion and send out of specimens in a timely and professional manner. May also perform other duties as assigned.

Education, License & Cert:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Essential Functions:

1. Complies with the rules and regulations of all federal, state, and local governments in relation to this position. 2. Provides patients and other customers with necessary collection instructions, per department standards and helps ensure the proper execution of these instructions. 3. Maintains a clean collection area. 4. Collects specimens and processes them in a timely manner, following chain of custody requirements and completing associated paperwork. 5. Requests orders and supplies as necessary. 6. Maintains contact with probation officer in special situations. 7. Maintains strict confidentiality. 8. Demonstrates effective communication skills with clients and understands any special needs. 9. Obtains blood specimens from adults as skillfully as possible using proper technique under specified aseptic conditions. Makes phlebotomy as non‐traumatic and safe for the patients as possible. Effectively difficult patients. This includes proper care post invasive phlebotomy procedure. 10. Performs accurate patient registration/ including knowledge of insurance codes and billing procedures. 11. Documents and immediately reports unusual circumstances or situations encountered and refers it to supervisory personnel to help resolve or for documentation. 12. Must be proficient with computer programs and be able to navigate through information systems. Performs other clerical and technical duties as instructed or requested. 13. Assists in training by demonstrating techniques or methods to students/ new staff, when requested. 14. Represents the hospital in a professional and courteous manner. 15. Keeps up to date on all fire, safety and disaster programs and attends designated in service programs.
