Direct Support Professional positions are responsible for maintaining an environment in the Day programs which encourages and facilitates optimal personal development and provides person directed services while ensuring the health and safety of the people supported.

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Community Supports this position is responsible for providing oversight to the Direct Support associates, provide person directed services and ensure the health and safety of the people receiving supports.

- The person in this position has the ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. This includes medical, financial and personal information of persons receiving support.
- The person in this position has basic Microsoft Office skills.
- The person in this position demonstrates knowledge of basic accounting and computer skills.
- The person in this position has good written and verbal communication skills.
- The person possesses crisis management skills as well as leadership.
- The person in this position is able to operate office equipment, computers and medical equipment.
- The person in this position must be able to operate wheelchair vans, if applicable at site.
- The person in this position must be able to work regularly scheduled hours as well as additional hours as assigned, including overtime, nights, and weekends.
- The person in this position must be able to be contacted outside of working hours.
- High School diploma, GED, or an acceptable TABE test score is required
- Minimally one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- CPR/First Aid/AED and SCIP Certification within the first six months of hire
- Medication Administration Certification, as required.
- Where position requires driving:
- Valid driver’s license for the state in which the person resides
- Acceptable safe driving record
- Where position requires driving people served by the Agency:
- Motor vehicle with up-to-date inspection, that is registered and insured
