Zoot Adventure Learning Academy is now accepting applications for a part-time Early Childhood Substitute Teachers. The Early Childhood Substitute Teacher will work in the absence of our Early Childhood Teachers by aiding the children in their daily tasks and educational development. Candidates should have some classroom teaching experience and possess the skills needed to cover daily instruction and run the classroom environment in an orderly fashion.

In order to build that understanding, children need to see, touch, smell, hear, taste, and experience the world by direct interactions and experiences!

Essential Job Functions
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
  • Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages children to participate.
  • Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various children and age groups.
  • Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  • Report all injuries, accidents illnesses, and discipline problems to the direct supervisor and academy personnel immediately.
  • Prepare a detailed outline of the day’s events for the regular teacher.
  • Achieve a service-focused culture with emphasis on delivering on-time, high-quality products and services to internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned – it is understood that this list of major duties and responsibilities is not an inclusive list and that other duties and responsibilities, which may include helping others in the same or different departments, may be assigned by supervision.
Education, Training, & Experience
  • Previous child care experience preferred.
  • Have sufficient language skills to communicate with children and adults.
  • Provide current record of the following immunizations:
    • Tetanus (within the past 10 years)
    • MMR (measles/mumps/rubella)
  • Obtain Infant/Child/Adult CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to successfully pass state regulated background screening including criminal record, Child & Adult Protective Services, FBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle records, and sign a health attestation.
  • Willing to complete 8 hours of annual, approved training.
  • Valid Driver License with clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
  • All positions at ZALA require the ability to move about inside a classroom environment which includes the operation of computers and other office productivity machinery in addition to standard classroom materials, frequent written and verbal communications and interactions with children, parents, caregivers, other employees, clients, vendors, and visitors, and time spent outdoors.
  • This position specifically requires the ability to bend, stoop, and kneel, walking, standing, sit on the floor, and lifting up to 40lbs and participating in all variety of physical activities that take place in a child care setting.
