About the Position
Do you want to specialize in our Electronic Health Records (EHR) system and work with other software systems? The EHR Application Specialist provides frontline/helpdesk support to Correctional Health Services staff and other county personnel, troubleshooting and resolving incidents regarding the EHR system and other software systems. This position is responsible for quality assurance system testing of vendor-provided software , including clinical and system reports and vendor follow-up for corrective actions. This position also assists with the training and implementation other clinical applications and equipment utilized by patient care providers.
This position may also act as a liaison between clinics, vendors, and other county entities to implement interfaces, equipment, and processes and troubleshoot issues in daily operations.

We Require
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field
  • One year of technology related experience
  • A combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record management (system admin, superuser, trainer, or implementation team member)
  • Experience working with business software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications
  • Certified Correctional Healthcare Professional (CCHP)
  • SharePoint and other document management software experience
Job Contributions
  • Provides frontline assistance for the Business Integration and Technology team, directly supporting end users/end-user workflows as a first-line contact for requests and reports related to the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and other software applications utilized by CHS staff
  • Prepares and distributes standardized communications for staff regarding system changes and workflows and is responsible for managing, triaging, and taking appropriate action for issues submitted to the team mailbox
  • Serves as a first contact for other County staff regarding questions and issues relating to the EHR system
  • Provides a similar scope of assistance remotely on an "On-Call" basis as needed. Escalating issues that may compromise patient safety or adversely impact clinical workflows
  • At times, senior team personnel and clinical designees may collaborate to validate system processes with clinical workflows and assist with determining alternative solutions when appropriate
  • Prepares and distributes communications regarding EHR technical issues, updates, problems and resolutions, and general information regarding the EHR to clinical staff
  • Works with senior team personnel to develop and test clinical system reports. Completes and issues requested reports on an as-needed basis
  • Assists with identifying tools and reports needed for quality control and auditing purposes
  • Identifies and tests ancillary devices/products associated with the EHR system and the clinical environment, developing test scripts and maintaining documentation
  • Assists in EHR database maintenance, reporting, and collecting statistical data
  • Documents detail descriptions of all incidents, modifications, and resolutions and submit status reports as requested
  • Coordinates tasks related to scheduled and unscheduled system down times
  • Responsible for User Security Administration in EHR; provides removes and monitors system access as defined by CHS policy when needed. Assists in developing policies and procedures regarding the operation of the EHR
  • Assists in analyzing the EHR system concerning clinical needs and recommending workflow/process modifications
  • Approves modifications, work with vendors and county departments to implement changes and system developments, and conducts testing
  • Supports non-EHR-related technology systems and projects and functions as a backup for general team operations
