Title: Electrical/Mechanical Senior Technician

Normal Work Location: Dependent Upon Assignment

Normal Working Hours: Dependent Upon Assignment / Monday – Friday / As Needed

Immediate Coach: Manufacturing Operations Manager

Position Summary

The position responsibilities include supervising and participating in the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. These systems include facilities and related electronic controls, machine tool controls of complicated design and complexity. Also includes training and supervising various personnel’s performance of duties, monitoring vendor performance, and overseeing and assisting with preventive maintenance activities for electrical systems at all facilities. This position supports a lean and safe working environment while focusing on continuous improvement, quality, and support of teamwork throughout the Company.

Essential Job Functions

  • Evaluate machine control and electrical systems with an emphasis on viability, reliability, and safety.
  • Integrate PLC, relay logic control systems, and variable frequency drives to existing and new machines.
  • Perform on-site diagnostics of machines and power distribution networks within buildings.
  • Troubleshoot CNC, PLC, relay logic, and repair electrical equipment including panel wiring.
  • Prioritize and arrange for RFQ from approved ISO vendor for major electrical and equipment repairs.
  • Assist in the review and approval of contractor plans, including goals and objectives, work breakdown structure, detailed scope descriptions, detailed schedules, risk management approach, milestone descriptions, budgets, and staffing requirements.
  • Specify and requisition electrical control systems and components.
  • Read and draw electrical schematics.
  • Assist in-house technicians with electrical repair problems, safety applications, and prioritization.
  • Perform affirmative interfacing with vendors for problem resolution.

Marginal / Less Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards by proper use of personal protective equipment, safety devices, such as lock-out, as required.
  • Lead and direct safe operation of all machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Actively participate in department/shift/team meetings.
  • Participate and assist safety, quality, and other departments in support of a team environment.

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of technical training.
  • Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Other Qualifications Desired

Training & Experience

  • Must have a minimum of five years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures from blueprints, schematics, and sketches.
  • Background in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Five years of experience in integrating electrical with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, relay logic, systems and troubleshooting industrial control systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and develop electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Previous training and experience in Infor EAM and People Soft programs or related.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to use lab instruments, recording amp and volt meters, recorders, and thermal imaging equipment.
  • Experience in design, repair, and analysis of electronic systems. Must have exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies.

License Required

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet requirements set by
KSPT-G insurance carrier.
  • Tow motor and scissor lift qualified.

Visual Acuity

  • Ability to read machine dials, computer screens, tool drawings and precision measuring devices with or without reasonable accommodation.

Hearing Ability

  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify changes and take appropriate preventive action with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

  • Work environment varies between manufacturing facilities, office areas, maintenance shop and grounds. Position subject to various hazards requiring personal protective equipment including safety glasses and hearing protection. Position subject to heavy lifting, maneuvering, carrying material, pushing, pulling, reaching, and bending. This position requires ability to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to access various areas. Constant use of upper extremities with frequent gripping motions and wrist deviations. Occasional reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting as required. Position requires continuous standing and walking. Skin exposure to oils and cutting/grinding fluids with minimal exposure to fumes, dusts, mists.

  • Associate is required to follow other job-related duties, subject to all local, state, and federal laws and applicable regulations.
  • The incumbent must successfully perform all requirements of the position training plan.

When overtime is scheduled, it is mandatory.
