A rapidly growing part of Met-L-Tec is the building of coating and curing systems, fluid transfer systems, high pressure water deflashers, ovens, mask washers, turntables, and slide robotic systems.

The Electrical Technician /Panel Builder is responsible for the following: physical assembly and wiring of industrial control panels, conduit and wiring on machines, general electrical work.

The Electrical Technician/Panel Builder will build panels to print, including laying out and physically mounting devices to back panels, wiring per print and testing the panel to ensure that panels are built according to plan documents. Mounting and installing various sensors on machines.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical panels from schematics.
  • Operate and maintain 480VAC and 120VAC power systems and low voltage control ircuits.
  • Check controls drawings for accuracy, mark up "As-Recorded" drawings.
  • Troubleshoot controls in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lay out and mount components to subpanels and enclosures.
  • Label and wire components, connectors and cord sets per design.
  • Perform preventive maintenance functions as directed.
  • Follow applicable lock-out/tag-out, arc flash, and other safety procedures at all times
  • Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and assist with repairs of equipment and electrical faults.
  • Install and wire electrical instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure sensors, etc.
  • Assist in the startup, commissioning and troubleshooting of new or current equipment.
  • Select, install, and preserve the functionality of wires, plugs, panelboards, switchgear, switchboards, and similar.
  • Utilize hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers.
  • Install wire tray and cable management systems, as well as bend and install conduit.
  • Pull wires, harnesses and route cabling, pneumatic tubing.
  • Complete point-to-point wiring and install a wide variety of electronic components including PLCs, relays, lights, switches, etc.
  • Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for components, wiring, or instruments.
  • Work with minimal supervision once work assignments are given and explained. Ask questions to obtain sufficient instruction to perform assigned tasks.
  • Mark up drawings and bills of material to document the “As-Recorded” final product.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of electrical wiring experience desirable, but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics desirable, but not required.
  • PLC/HMI programming desirable, but not required.
  • Mechanical experience desirable, but not required. (Welding, fabrication)
  • Electrical and mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, communication skills and basic math skills required.
  • Ability to distinguish color is necessary.
  • Ability to travel for machine installation.
