Job Function:
Perform the installation, maintenance, preventative maintenance, the troubleshooting of electrical equipment with voltages up to 14,800 V.A.C.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Determine pipe size, EMT, flexible metallic tubing, wire, and related hardware for either plan construction, machine tool wiring or equipment wiring. Test and repair motors, remove and transport motors with assistance if necessary to plant services as required to facilitate the repair of machine tools or other plant equipment.
2. Repair and replace lighting fixtures and distribution system.
3. Operate all available equipment in the performance of the job.
4. Operate various equipment such as: drill press and portable electric hand tools.
5. Use various aerial equipment and erect staging as required to install equipment in the performance of the job.
6. Instruct and direct the activities of the other trades or as directed by supervision.
7. Transport equipment and materials as necessary in performance of the job.
8. Complete work order tickets as required.
9. Whenever practical obtain parts by operating the company vehicle to perform over the road pick up and delivery of plant services parts and equipment, as request, in the performance of the job.
10. Responsibilities include: working knowledge of programmable controllers, repair and calibration of instruments, determine required spare electronic parts and take custody of records and inventory, maintain and expand existing preventative maintenance program/maximize uptime of electronic control security, determine needed repair or upgrade components and arrange for their purchase, ability to maintain security system, and work with electrical and/or mechanical trades as required.
11. Specific Equipment includes: waste water control equipment, service center control equipment, heat treatment equipment controls, plating room rectifiers/plating solution monitoring devices, and production equipment to include Giulianis, Maromatics, Hahn and Kolb’s as well as other existing and future machines.
12. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Educational Requirements, Skills and Abilities:
1. Be knowledgeable of, and conform to, plant safety rules and regulations.
2. Job requires proficiency in the use of various testing instruments. Also be able to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, sketches, or foreman’s verbal or written instructions.
3. Job requires familiarity with the applicable sections of the N.E.C as related to factory construction and machine tool wiring.
4. Must have at least an E2 Electrical license and have four (4) years of high school, trade school or equivalency, and must have completed the apprenticeship program.
5. Must supply own hand tools. Job requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair facility electrical, circuits and power sources. Job also requires the use of all job-related safety equipment.
6. Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license.
