Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking both short- and long-term Classroom Teachers to fill in-person positions at one of our client schools, a coeducational school for gifted students in grades K-8

This innovative, independent school community tailors the curriculum to the needs of its gifted population and is distinctive in the way it weaves together project based learning, small-group mathematics, and social emotional learning. The school boasts a committed faculty that enjoys teaching in a collaborative environment where they are respected and empowered. Teachers here are professionals of high caliber who are creative, innovative, and have a growth mind-set.

Responsibilities of the Teacher:

• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
• Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

Requirements of the Elementary Teacher:

• A master's degree (preferred) in education or a bachelor's degree in education (master's degrees are often required for lead teachers).
• Experience in progressive/constructivist education.
• Experience teaching children, particularly in an independent, private, boarding, college preparatory, or like-kind setting (non day care).
• Strong references that convey your teaching abilities, connection with students, and mastery of teaching an elementary age group.
• A willingness to contribute to the school community outside of the classroom: coaching, running a student club, advising, etc.
