Empowered Official/Export Compliance Officer

Position Overview: The Empowered Official is the primary point of contact to ensure export compliance and government regulations in accordance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The Empowered Official will prepare export license applications and agreements as well as monitor technical data, hardware and other services in accordance with company policies and U.S. government laws and regulations.

Responsibilities Would Include:

  • Act as initial point of contact and provide guidance for international trade issues, questions, and compliance concerns
  • Coordinate with Program Managers and staff on export planning for contracts, task assignments, and new business initiatives
  • Serve as technical point of contact for international issues
  • Foster Export Compliance initiatives within GTP
  • Apply for export/import authorizations from responsible US Government agencies such as DSP-5, Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing License Agreements, SNAP-R, and other applications/agreements as needed.
  • Review and approve Export Authorization Forms as a representative of GTP
  • Final review and approval of all GTP exports/imports of products and potential controlled technical data/technologies.
  • Maintain and update GTP's ITAR Registration and licenses when active and/or renewed.
  • Develop and implement international trade compliance training for GTP employees
  • Implement audit schedules and assist in internal audits for compliance
  • Approves / denies plant visits by foreign persons
  • Implement policies, procedures, and controls for controlled items specified by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • Complete Customer Certifications and Representations as a representative of Global Tungsten & Powders Corp.
  • Support and guide other Plansee entities with the US Laws and Regulations of the ITAR and EAR during intercompany collaborations involving technical discussions/transfers, IT implementations, and general Export Compliance topics.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience working with international trade compliance a plus but not required
  • Experience working with a Defense Company a plus but not required

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have or be able to obtain US Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of Export Regulations
  • Good planning and time management skills
  • Experience working with a variety of Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in a team-based setting
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with little supervision
