WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, MISSOURI EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN / PARAMEDIC Contract Health Care Professionals (HCPs) shall perform essentially the same services as those required by any Air Force or Government service HCP of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Therefore, while specific tasks are outlined as listed below, responsibilities include but are not necessarily inclusive of tasks in which the HCP shall provide. All services shall be performed in accordance with established principles, practices, and ethics of the medical, and specialty professions/organizations. The standards of performance for all HCP provided by contractor shall reflect the degree of care, skill, and learning expected of a reasonably prudent Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B). Required Qualification: 1. Must be knowledgeable in anatomy and physiology; Emergency medical treatment to include CPR; Aseptic and surgical technique; Infection control, communicable diseases; Medical ethics and legal aspects; Operation and maintenance of therapeutic equipment; Medical terminology; Transportation of the sick and injured; Disaster preparedness procedures; hospital and pre-hospital protocols in order to assess, plan,implement, and evaluate care of patients in hospital and pre-hospital settings. The EMT-B will be required to assist with patient care within the ED when not performing emergency response or transport services; advanced lifesaving measured used to initiate resuscitation measures when necessary and assist unit in providing support measure. 2. Education. Graduation from an accredited EMT-Basic (EMT-B) certification program; A current, valid certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT); current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Pediatric A d v an c ed Life Support (PALS) is preferred,but not required. 3. Experience. One (1) year of full-time experience within the last three (3) years as an ambulance crew member. .Job Responsibilities: Emergency Department trained Paramedics (EMT-P) to support treatment in a hospital emergency department (ED), ambulance emergency response, in-flight emergency response, non-in-flight emergency response, transfer and transport services for active duty military personnel, their dependents, retirees, their dependents and other eligible beneficiaries, in accordance with the terms and conditions of this agreement. The EMT-P will be required to assist with patient care within the ED when not performing emergency response or transport services. EMT-P shall cover the range of services provided in a civilian medical treatment facility. 1. Responsible for creating, maintaining, and disposing of medical documentation as required. Performs a full range of emergency room support and ambulance services on site at the MTF and in the field when performing ambulance emergency or in-flight response, transfer, or transport services. The EMT-P will practice within the guidelines set by the NCOIC, Nurse Manager and the Medical Director. Provides emergency hospital and pre-hospital care for all types of patients (all ages). 3. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients of all ages. Workload includes the evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients ranging from infants to elderly. 4. Assisted by medical technicians, the candidate will be fully integrated into the nursing team, responsible for direct patient care. 5. Recognizes medical emergencies and responds appropriately. 6. Initiates CPR if required. Assists emergency personnel in administering advanced cardiac life support measures when necessary. 7. Participates in in-services and continuing education programs. 8. Must comply with licensing requirements of the State and local motor vehicle law 9. Must disinfect, restock, and prepare ambulances for immediate medical response to include during daily/monthly inspections. 10. Assist in lifting and carrying patients out of the ambulance and into emergency treatment. Additional Criteria:  In addition to Paramedic certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), employees must possess a current & valid paramedic license in the state of Missouri at all time of hire; license must be maintained during employment.  Employee must be Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified.  All first responders must maintain respiratory fitchecks (N-95 mask) on an annual basis.  Civilian contractors must be neatly shaved and groomed. Employee must maintain a professional appearance at all times.  Civilian contractor primary duty uniform is the following: tan polo shirts, navy blue pants, black belt, black safety boots/shoes (steel toed). A navy blue pull over sweatshirt or a navy blue EMS coat may be used during cold weather (EMS coat must meet current OSHA safety standards for outer wear garments). Uniforms must be in good condition. Uniform must be worn at all times; violations will result in the employee being sent home and the violation will be reported to the contract holder.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.22 per hour
