POSITION SUMMARY

EBCE is seeking to hire a full-time Energy Data Analyst, Financial Modeler to join the Technology & Analytics team, reporting to the Modeler-in-Chief. We are seeking a candidate with solid energy analytics and modeling expertise to support the modeler-in-chief in strengthening the model capabilities and cleaning up the codebase and eventually take over primary responsibility for running GridPath, an open-source model used in the Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) process. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of energy modeling experience, technical acumen, and a desire to innovate and transform the energy industry.

POSITION DETAILS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • IRP Modeling: maintain various supply and demand-side models to support key forecasting, procurement and programmatic initiatives.
  • Support internal analysis and modeling of electrification, electric vehicle adoption, distributed energy resources adoption and integration, and energy efficiency and demand response penetration.
  • Support internal analysis and modeling of innovative rate design for new EBCE offerings or new program offerings.
  • Work in close collaboration with Power Resources and Public Policy teams to analyze data for cross-functional purposes
  • Experience working not just with the numbers but with developing an understanding of the policy landscape in which those numbers live.
  • Provide technical support to develop templates and reporting requirements as needed.
  • Provide internal strategy and analytic support on EBCE local program design, development, and monitoring.
  • Provide support to recommend areas for improvement and assist with projects to enhance the reporting and analytical infrastructure
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or three to five years equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the energy industry with an electric utility, CCA, power marketer, energy portfolio manager, or regulatory entity.
  • Experience, proficiency, and confidence in using Python and SQL to analyze data
  • Strong quantitative modeling and technical skills.
  • Familiarity with the California regulatory environment including knowledge of CPUC compliance requirements, the CAISO energy markets, and legislated requirements for load serving entities.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and a curiosity about data and how numbers can help us identify solutions to customer service concerns

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $86,567 - $113,619. The exact compensation package offered will be dependent on candidate experience

Location and Working Conditions

This position will be based in EBCE headquarters in Oakland, near BART. EBCE's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into the office 2-3 days a week. We are not providing relocation or sponsorships currently.
