SUMMARY:

  • The technician will provide support for the survey, design, implementation/modernization, and support of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wireless LAN (WLAN) expansion in support of MHS GENESIS for all Defense Health Agency (DHA) Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) worldwide.
  • Provides project oversight for all the activities detailed in this PWS.
  • Complies with specifications, industry standards, project support, site survey support, design engineering support, network upgrade support, infrastructure testing support, and post upgrade closeout support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists program leadership with status reports, white papers, weekly activity report, and other ad-hoc requirements as necessary.
  • Supports tracking of activities.
  • Participates in survey planning discussion with stakeholders to determine team/event criteria.
  • Participates in teleconferences with stakeholders.
  • Participates in scheduling and resource balancing planning activities.
  • Participates in a site in-brief and out-briefs.
  • Participates in site survey.
  • Evaluates the existing cable pathway for adequacy of re-use.
  • Accomplishes isolation and tag-outs in accordance with site procedures.
  • Rolls back or disposes of installation material acquired in support of this Task Order.
  • Provides on-site daily survey status reports via email.
  • Provides input to education/lessons learned on sites.
  • Performs inventory control; packs and stages unused government/contractor materials.
  • Pulls, repairs, terminates, and tests Cat5e or Cat6 single, dual, triple, and quad drops.
  • Labels and documents all newly placed cables and patch panels.
  • Positions and/or adjusts fire-stop systems.
  • Positions and/or adjusts cable support systems.
  • Corrects cable dressing systems.
  • Mounts fire treated TE/TR backboards.
  • Mounts network equipment racks and cabinets.
  • Mounts Cat6 patch panels and cable management systems.
  • Mounts and/or adjusts equipment grounding system and telecommunications bonding infrastructure.
  • Mounts rack stabilizing hardware.
  • Executes cable abatement.
  • Performs daily clean-up of TE/TR work areas.
  • Provides input to a Limited Upgrade Plan | Limited Closeout Report.
  • Complies with OSHA Standards.
  • Complies with site-specific dust contamination and infections control policies/practices.
  • Complies with site-specific work request requirements, safety requirements, and access control.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the following responsibilities, skills, and knowledge.
  • Technical School, or Class A/B Military school in electronics or communications OR minimum of 4 years’ experience in electronics apprentice program.
  • Experience with Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
  • Experience required in electronics installation and/or maintenance activities on multiple systems and with multiple customer programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Working technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions.
  • Working knowledge in Electrical or Mechanical Design with a foundational understanding of electronics, cables, harnesses, structures, mechanics, or materials.
  • Working knowledge in isolating malfunctions.
  • Working knowledge in incorporating engineering changes.
  • Working knowledge of the interrelationships of circuits.
  • Working knowledge with Infrastructure Deployment Task List.
  • Working knowledge with data delivery application used by the testing devices, such as Fluke Ware.
  • Working knowledge with ANSI/EIA/TIA performance tests.
  • Working knowledge with Infrastructure List of Material.
  • Working knowledge with Computer Aided Drafting drawings.
  • Working knowledge with deployment schedules.
  • Working knowledge of developing briefing materials, administrative, and logistic support.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written); enables precise conveyance of information across all customer sections and proper enunciation of the English language.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, dependable, and multi-task with evolving priorities.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation prior to hireCherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates COVID vaccines for federal contractors.

Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

  • Training (must have access to a computer to complete the following):Completion of HIPAA web-based training.

Completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) web-based training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The contractor shall perform work at the contractor facility (Portsmouth, VA) and/or at temporary duty locations specified under the contract.
  • Travel required (100% travel).
  • This is fulltime work.
  • Paid travel, lodging, and per diem is offered throughout the project.
  • Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates COVID vaccines for federal contractors.
